[A] So [D] here we are in front of Trinity St.
Paul's Church in downtown [C#] Toronto,
and we're going to be recording [N] Oliver's tune.
And I wanted to do it here because this is where Oliver Shore played his last concert.
And for those that don't know Oliver, he was an amazing Canadian violin player,
and unfortunately he passed away from leukemia about a year and a half ago.
But before he died, he decided that he was going to play one last show
that he called Oliver's Last Show on his tour of this planet.
And I was listening to CBC and he was promoting the show,
and one of the things he said that really struck me was that when he was given the news
that his condition was terminal and incurable, rather than having a feeling of panic,
he actually had a feeling of peace.
Because in that moment, even [G#m] though he was given the news that he had such a short [N] amount of time left to live,
he realized that he didn't need to change anything
because he was already doing exactly what he wanted to be doing with his life.
And I thought that that was just such an amazing state to aspire to be in, and I wrote the song.
And one other little thing that's pretty amazing that happened is,
after that interview I went home and I ordered his CD, Hymns and Hurs,
and then I went away on tour for a month.
And when I came back from that tour, the CD was waiting for me,
and I put it in my CD player and was just working away on the computer.
And I realized that my song fit perfectly over top of the first song on his record,
Song for All Seasons.
It was just this amazing moment.
So when I went to record my song, I asked Anne Lindsey, who's a violinist who played with Oliver,
to come in and record Oliver's part and mix them together.
And yeah, I'm really happy with the way it turned out.
So, let's go inside and get recording.

[A] [D] Oh, [G] [D]
[G] [D] [A] [D]
I've got my number, [F#m] I'm here in the store
[Bm] My hands still are hungry, [A] spirit warm
[G] A view all around me, [F#m] I've gathered here
[G] All I've ever needed [Em] is [A] with [D] you
[A] But [G] if I look afar [D] ahead of me
[A]
[Em] [F#m] [A] I stumble [G] into tragedy, really it's not [A] sad, you see
Cause here I am [D] playing my [A] final [G] song
To end what I've been [D] [A] doing
[F#m] Oh, [E] [D]
[A] [D] you can call it courage
[F#m] Or you can call it strong
[Bm] But really it's just simply [A] carrying on
While [G]
amplifying all the good [F#m] you've been engaging in
[G] It's only just a few less [A] days to squeeze [D] all of it [A] in
But if [G] I look too far ahead of [D] me
[A] [Em]
[F#m] [A] I [B] stumble into [G]
tragedy, really [A] it's not sad, you see
Cause here I am [D] playing my [A] [Bm] final [G] song
With all of you surrounding me
So when [D] I'm free [A] from gravity
I will know [D] that I [A] was never [G] wrong
For doing what I was [A] doing
All, [G]
[A] [Bm] all along
[A] [D]
[G] I'm [A] [E]
[D] [G] [D]
[A]
[G] not one to tell people [D] what it [A] is they should do
[G] But if you're asking then I [Bm] guess there's [D] one thing I would say [G] to you
Do those things
[A] [Dm] you've always wanted to
