[Ab] Hey, it's Andy with Pro Guitar [D] Shop and ToneReport.com and today [Dm] we're looking at the PAL 800 JCM
emulator from PedalPal FX.
[D] The JCM [C] emulator is [Dm] a painstakingly engineered replica of the vaunted
Marshall JCM [D] 800 preamp section.
[C] PedalPal FX takes the schematic of the original amp,
breaks it down and [D] delivers an exact replica using [C] FETs instead of [F] tubes.
Just [D] like real tubes,
[C] the FETs are carefully audited in the circuit and biased accordingly.
[F] The result is a true
artisan overdrive that is true to [C] the source material.
[D] The gain [G] knob on the emulator [D] works
just like the preamp volume of the original 800, but with [Dm] an even wider range, giving you everything
[D] from low wattage blues breaker tones to singing 80s drive all the way to hell-raising 90s hard
rock crunch.
And just like a real amp, the JCM emulator responds incredibly well to volume knob
cleanup, reining in the gain [C] while altering your pick attack.
[D] The emulator's three-band EQ stays
true to the traditional Marshall [C] tone stack and delivers interactive [D] bands that are augmented by
the presence control.
[F] If that's not enough EQ for you, [D] the emulator packs a master tone trim pot on
the inside for further tone shaping.
And just like all PedalPal FX, each JCM emulator is hand-biased,
built and tested in Venezuela.
[F] I first started off with that classic slash grind by increasing
the mid-range and the gain.
[D] Let's back off on the gain and add just a subtle bit of Marshall flavor
to our deluxe reverb.

[F] Also, it's nice to have that full EQ

I have my deluxe reverb pretty bright,
so I've [D] backed off on the presence.
