[G] [N] Hey guys, welcome back to another warning reaction.
Today I'm looking at Crimson Queen.
Now the reason I'm doing this is I think, I think Dust to Dust was the first track on the album
and this is the second one.
People have said this is a concept album.
So I thought, well if you're gonna react to it, you may as well try and listen through song by song.
So I've literally just done the Dust to Dust reaction, even if we're a few days further on in terms of uploading and
getting it out there.
So yeah, I'm gonna have a listen to this, see what I make of it.
I really like Dust to Dust.
I like the heavier side of it, but I'm aware that this is kind of a story, a concept thing.
So what we get here could be very different.
The whole album could be very, very different.
So yeah, I'm gonna check it out and see what I make of it and hopefully I'll enjoy it.
So let's have a look.
Did I [Dm] say it's Crimson Queen?
Is that what it's called?
Crimson Queen?
I think it's Crimson Queen and it's a live version.
Not gonna be a [Gm] heavy one then.
Bit of acoustic.
[Dm] It's a
[G] bit of an acoustic.
Looks like it's the same concert as the other one.
[Dm]
[G]
[Dm]
[G]
Got a [D] good voice.
[Dm]
[G] I think I've [D] heard this.
[Dm]
[G] The paint on my hands there.
It's [Dm] very kind of Cronyman Pilatey.
I have heard this.
Yeah, it's good.
I [G] like it.
This reminds me of something.
[Dm]
[G] Nice harmonies.
What does it remind me of?
[Dm] Part of me immediately is thinking of like Battle at Evermore or Led Zeppelin, but it's not really that though.
It's something else.
The one thing that really strikes me, and people won't like me for saying this [G] though, is that acoustic sounds absolutely bloody awful.
Sounds horribly cheap.
[Dm] I'm sure she could afford to get a nice one.
[G] Maybe it's just the mix, but
No warmth in it at [Dm] all.
[G]
Something [D] else in the background.
[Dm] Keys.
[G] [C]
[Dm]
[G]
[Dm]
[G] What does it remind me of?
[Dm]
I saw someone else put on a comment, maybe I'm being [G] led by the comments, that the album had songs a bit like Fleetwood Mac.
And this could be a bit [Dm] Fleetwood Mac vocally, [D] the chain, that kind of thing.
I don't know, [G] maybe.
[Dm] Maybe.
Loved [D] how the drums [N] are not in your face, just complements everything perfectly.
There we go.
[A] Great.
Wow, completely [N] different from Dust to Dust.
Absolutely.
Streets apart.
Completely different ballpark, really, wasn't it?
But I enjoyed it.
I did enjoy it.
I really liked it.
If I'm trying to think about this from a guitar playing point of view, as a guitar teacher, what she does, there's nothing groundbreaking in there.
But something I always say to all my students is, when we break down songs, I always say, and see here, this is really just a D chord, this is really just a G, played in an interesting way or whatever.
And I'm always saying to people, you don't have to do something incredibly out of the box and wacky and wild to write great songs and get good sounds or interesting sounds.
And I think that's exactly what's going on there.
It's very simple stuff.
She's just strumming through some probably quite basic chords.
But put the whole thing together with the vocals and the song and the melody.
I say really like the drums, just the kind of the shaker and a bit of kind of floor bass drum and whatnot.
It just creates this whole thing together.
I said I did think the acoustics sounded absolutely abysmal by itself.
But that might just be me.
And that's not a big thing, you know, easily.
I can easily be sorted, I'm sure.
But yeah, so I think I'm just going to go and listen to it.
I need to get work done.
There's things I need to do.
Am I just going to listen to the next song straight away?
Maybe I will.
Maybe I'll do that now.
I'm quite enjoying this.
So, OK, great.
Really enjoyed that one.
More, more, more of the same.
It's not even the same as it's all different.
So more of the same difference stuff.
Great.
Cool.
Hope you enjoyed it.
