_ [A] _ _ _ [D#m] Hello everyone, this is Paul Gilbert and I've got a brand new pedal called a Fuzz
Universe.
I'm very excited about this pedal.
It has two of my favorite pedals
inside it.
This side, the Thrust 2 side, is actually a Magic Box, that's the name
of the company that makes this, Venom Boost, and then the Thrust 1 side is a
slightly modified for me version of the Magic Box pedal called a Body Blow.
And I
used those two pedals from my Fuzz Universe album, so I thought wouldn't it
be cool to put them into one box _ [A] and _ _ make it into the the perfect Fuzz pedal.
So again, when I say fuzz, that's the word I grew up using for distortion or
overdrive or whatever you want to call it.
_ _ Basically it does everything. _
_ When I have it off, I still usually have a little bit of distortion on my
amp.
_ _ It's a small amount of distortion, a small enough amount where I can [N] stop, _ it
doesn't feed back and howl, but it's not quite enough to really do a lot of
the crazier stuff I want to do.
So for that crazy stuff, I've got two
different overdrive sounds.
Thrust 1, _ I think _ it has the _ drive knob, which
sort of gives you, you know, that overdrive kind of sound and it makes the
picking a little bit easier.
[C] So if I want to get something picked, I'm gonna
play without it first.
_ If I [N] hit the Thrust 1 button, _ _ [F#] _ _ _
_ _ [Em] _ _ _ _ _ _
_ [Bm] _ _ _ _ _ _ _
it's a lot more
sustained and it's easier to pick.
The Thrust 2 is like a clean boost that
really hits your amp hard and will make the the tubes in your amp work even more.
And just, you know, check out the difference in [F#] gain.

I feel a lot of power in my hands when I've got that Thrust 2 to work with.

_ [N] So that's just a crazy amount of gain, but it really sounds good.
I love the way, again, the attack of the string. _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _
I think that's one of the things that Magic Box does best with this pedal, is they worked really hard to get the exact, not only the exact, you know, gain or overdrive, but also the EQ
within this box is tailored to make that attack _ _ _ _ nice and clean, but still
nice and big.
You know, just enough high-end to give the attack, but still a
lot of girth and low-end, so it's big and heavy. _ _
_ _ [E] _ _ _ [G#] _ [N] And of course, those are
the two sounds individually, but you can turn them both on at the same time and
that's just a frightening amount of sustain and it still sounds great.
It's
not too much.
_ You have to be a little more careful about controlling the
string noise, but that's, you know, that's your job.
The pedal itself gives you
beautiful tones. _ _ _ _ _ _ _

It feels good.

thing, you know, that you can hear me play through it, but really you need to
plug into one of these and feel how it feels.
It's just the most responsive.
It
works really well with a bunch of different amps.
I've tried it with about
five different amps of all sizes and _ _ I'm just blown away.
I love this thing.
