[E] Well, I am delighted to be here and they told me I had two minutes [B] and that's not enough time [Ab] to tell the stories that need to be told.
But as I sit here and I look at this album, this was their first.
One of the most [G] creative [Ab] album covers you'll ever [Gb] see in your life.
Up Where [E] We Belong.
Jim Baker is there, he was responsible for this being and Bill Maxwell has just come.
There's Bill Maxwell.
And [Gb] we [N] can't tell you what it was under that we produced this record under.
I am very proud to be here and what's so historic about this moment is that just maybe four blocks over in 1980, [E]
[Ab] 1979.
[Bb] My four, three other brothers and I came here [Gb] and we recorded at the Paramount Studios.
And I remember because Roscoe's was right over there [N] on the $6.
And that was the beginning.
We always knew that BB&CC were talented.
I'm really happy to have my mom here.
And I know my [Bb] dad is very proud right now.
But he's the reason [Dbm] for BB&CC, [E] not just, you know, in a [F] biological way.
But [Ab] when we started, our group was Carvin, [A] Marvin, Ronald and Howard [Eb] Smith.
And when Howard [Eb] Smith
[Bb] went on to sing with [N] Andre Kraut, it left a vacuum in our [Ab] group.
[Bb] And so, you know, I heard [A] BB's voice and he was starting to get his little vibrato together.
[Bm] And so, and so I said that I would bring BB into our group, which [D] I know he wanted.
[F]
[Gb] Because there was a there was a group called Winans Part [E] Two.
And so that was BBCC, Michael, [Db] Daniel.
And so [Ab] we you know, I [C] was going to take him out of the farm team and [N] bring him up to the majors.
And and and my father [Ab] said, no, I said, but daddy, [Ab] he said, no, Michael's next.
Michael's in the group.
[D] I'm like, but [E] BB.
And he said, no, no, I'm on Michael.
[B] So, you know, I was eating his food, [N] living in his house.
So Michael got the job.
And then the Winans, [F] our first album was nominated for a Grammy.
And we were here and I was approached by Howard McQuarrie.
And he said, I really [Db] want I'm getting ready to go to [Ab] TDL, TDL, PTL.
And [Db] I want I know it's too late to get your [N] group.
But what about your brothers and sisters?
And I was like, you know, have at it.
[Bb] My dad is not letting CC go anywhere.
[Eb] And boy, was I wrong.
[D] And so as [Dm] I as I stand here, I am just filled with [N] happiness because we always [F] had our own Grammys at home.
We always had our own award shows at [N] home.
And, yeah, we had enough people to.
[Gb] Yeah.
You know, it was like and the best vocal goes to me.
I didn't know that kind of thing.
And so we had a whole [Bb] lot of [N] of pretending on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and everything [Eb] else.
And I tell people I used to be famous, but now I'm just CC's brother.
[Gb] And and I'm happy to be.
So I'm very, very, very, very proud [G] of BB and CC and the job [N] that they're doing and the job they've done.
And thanks, Mom.
