[C] [Am]
[C] Hey, this is Parker McCollum, and this is my Opry debut.
You just kind of get nervous when you walk into Ryman a little bit.
You know when you [F] walk in,
anybody that you look up to and what you [C] want to do in life has
come to and [Fm] and played their songs and kind of spoke their truth.
[G] [C]
When [Bm] I was really young,
we spent a lot a lot of time with my granddad and you know he was [Gm] always playing
Porter Wagner [B] and Buck Owens.
He always wanted to know what you're [Bm] working on musically, you know.
So when you're chasing dreams and you have someone like [E] that in their life that reached so many of their goals,
[B] you have no excuse to fail.
[D#] So I grew up [Bm] in a town called Conroe just north of Houston and moved to Austin
[C] right after I graduated high school [B] and my older brother Tyler,
phenomenal songwriter, [G] really the only reason that I think I [Em] took to songwriting at such a young age [G] and really kind of
fell in love with it.
[C] We had a chance to
[F] actually invite [C] Parker McCollum to perform the Opry for the [Am] first time [F] via FaceTime.
We were playing [C] Billy Bob's, [G] world's largest honky-tonk in Fort Worth, Texas, some socially distant shows right before Christmas.
He was doing three [C] sold-out shows there and [F] I called his mom's phone [C]
and she put on FaceTime and [D] put him on there.
So [F] I was just getting ready for the show, walked into the green room.
My [G] mom was kind of looking at me [C] weird and [G]
and I walk over on the phone and I see Dierks is on there.
I'd be [Dm] honored if you come out and play your Grand Opry debut.
I'll be [C] there cheering you [G] on.
[Am] Awesome.
Holy s***, [D] for real?
[G] Damn, for real?
You're being serious?
Yeah, February [D] [G] 6th, man.
The Opry asked me to ask you [D] to come [F] play your Opry debut, man.
The coolest part [C] about playing the Grand Ole Opry is
[Am] watching my dad's face [F] when he tells somebody when I was home.
[C] His face just lights up.
[G] I enjoy it very much to see how proud they are to tell somebody I'm playing the Grand Ole [C] Opry.
So I love it.
[B]
Hi, Parker.
How are you doing?
Hey, I'm really good.
How are you?
Doing well.
Welcome to the Opry.
Thank you, sir.
Now you'll be in dressing room number four tonight.
Dressing room number four is the very first one on the left-hand [C#m] side.
[B] You know, I think you grew up listening to country music and you dream about [E] playing country music.
[B] You know, all of a [E] sudden today is the day that we play the Grand Ole [B] Opry.
It's an incredible [F#] feeling.
Finally getting to watch my brother [G#m] Parker [F#] McCallum do [E] his debut.
I don't know.
I try not [B] to get teary-eyed because I got a lot of [F#] pride in me right now, y'all.
If you play the Opry, [E] it means you're doing something right.
You know, things are going well in your career if you get invited to play the Opry.
Can you step in it yet?
Not yet.
The circle is sacred because, I mean, simply think about just icons in country music
stand right there and speak their truth and sing their songs.
[C#m]
When I walk [F#m] down the halls and I see pictures of Porter and pictures of Willie and it's like almost like backstage
I feel like I have to be quiet.
[B] You feel different when you walk [E] in the building.
What's [G] up, man?
What's it feel like?
Pretty pumped?
Yeah, nervous.
I was nervous just sound checking.
Yeah, I'm also still nervous after all these years of doing this.
I'm not sure if just in country music alone if there's anything I've done that's
cooler than what we will do tonight.
I mean it is the mecca of
country music.
Your debut single, Pretty Heart.
Went platinum, baby!
Went platinum!
Look at that.
Oh my sweet goodness.
Wow, thank you very much for coming here.
He's such a grateful, you know, human being.
He's very thankful for everything.
So nowadays when he gets on that stage, I'm gonna try to haul some tears back.
Parker, congratulations on [N] your Opry debut performance tonight.
Y'all are gonna love him.
Make some noise for Parker McComb, everybody.
[C] [G]
[D] Dierks Bentley introducing me at the Opry.
I think it will [G] help because I'll feel maybe a little more
at ease and a little more [D] comfortable with him here.
Today is is kind of a pinch me day.

[Em] [C] [G]
[D] The highlight of [C] playing on that stage tonight, [G] being out there, was [D] seeing my mom and dad and stepmom's faces out there.
