[F] Let's start the [A] beginning of the Be Good Tanias.
How did the three of you form?
You got Frazee Ford and [Ab] Trish over here.
I was just playing the banjo.
How did the three of you come together as a band?
Actually, [A] Frazee and I met on a clear cut [G] tree planting
[Ab] in British [Gb] Columbia in the mountains.
That was a job [B] we did.
I did it for 10 years and Frazee did it for a couple [Ab] years,
three, four years or something.
[Gb] Six.
Oh, six.
[Db] [Abm] And then we met at Open Mic.
And then we ran [C] into Trish at an [G] Open Mic in [Gb] this little mountain town.
We were living in [Ab] Nelson, British Columbia.
[Db] And then we all went our separate ways and many years later,
I'd been [Ab] living in New Orleans.
Trish had been, I don't know where, Winnipeg?
[G] In jail.
In prison.
[Db] And then [Eb] we all ended up back in [A] Vancouver where we met Jolie Holland
and [Ab] we started playing with Jolie.
These [E] are her boots and her [G] dress.
[Bb]
[Ebm] And that's how the band kind [G] of got started.
So let's talk about the name then, the Be [Bbm] Good Tanias.
Very interesting name, but it comes [Ab] from, has a musical [Eb] background.
There's a songwriter in [G] San Francisco named Oboe Martin McCrory
who was a good friend of Jolie's.
And she introduced us to the song Be Good Tania.
It was our first hit single.
Well, we never [Db] recorded it or anything.
But, [Ebm] oh, [Am] and Jolie [A] had wanted [G] to name a band the Be Good Tanias,
and that was just sort of the name.
We just kind [C]
of, you know, she [Gb] threw it at us and it stuck.
Yeah.
[Db] Well, it's a great name.
I think the audience likes the name.
[G]
Sticks with you, like oatmeal.
