On March 4, 2016, Joey Martin Feek lost her battle with cancer.
In the year that's passed since, Joey and Rory have been showered with accolades and awards.
The success has been [Am] bittersweet.
[G] Rory Feek has hardly stayed home grieving since losing his wife Joey to cancer one year ago.
He's released a book and a movie, continued to blog at [Db] This Life I Live, and raised [G] now
three-year-old Indiana.
The little [C] girl just learned to walk, and it's adorable.
[F]
[C] [F] In November, Rory told Taste of Country all the recent accolades for Joey and Rory were
a little strange.
Arguably, this has been the most successful 12 months of their [G] career.
CMA nominations, Dove Awards, Inspirational Country Awards, and most recently, a win at
the 2017 Grammy [D] Awards.
[Bb] Feek just brought home a piano built in 1926, so his farmhouse has music again.
And all [N] of a sudden, he's got a bunch of trophies to put next to it.
The accolades, I mean, is it enjoyable?
It's appreciated.
I'm always a little uncomfortable with all the big to-do stuff.
Joey and I kind of always were, but we know how special it is to be honored [G] and nominated,
so that [Bbm] means a lot to [G] us, especially now.
Rory's book, This Life I Live, was [F] released on Valentine's Day this year.
His movie, To Joey with Love, came late last year.
His number one job is still being a father to Indiana, and he recognizes it will be a
challenge to raise a little girl without a mother, especially one with Down syndrome.
He admits he doesn't have all the answers to how to stay ahead of her challenges.
I don't really know.
I'm not there yet.
I know she's two and a half, and she's just filled with joy.
I think that there will come a time when maybe I will help her, but right now, [Eb] she's doing
all the heavy lifting.
She's helping me through this time.
Rory talked to Taste of Country's Billy Dukes at the 2016 CMA Awards in November.
