What's up my piano [C] friends!
Zach Evans here [D] and today I'm going to show you a [Ab] simple three note
beginner [C] piano riff that sounds freaking amazing.
[A] It's one of those patterns that's actually really
easy to play but it makes you look like a pro.
Here's what the final version is going to sound
like.
[G]
[A] [C] [G]
[Am] We're going to build this up step by step [A] using a simple cheat [D] sheet so even if you've
never touched [A] a piano in your entire life you could [C] still get it.
Alright I'm excited and ready
to [Am] go let's get started.
[F] [C] [G]
[C] Alright so the three notes are pretty simple we're simply going [Ab] to play a C
[G] then a B and then a G and then [C] repeat.
So sped up it's going to sound like this.
Now remember if you're having trouble getting yours to sound [Gb] smooth like this and yours sounds
kind of choppy and sloppy don't worry later on in the video I'm going to show you the steam iron
method and we're going to smoothen out [D] all those bumps and wrinkles in your playing.
But first let
me show you the left hand.
So we're going to start off with two simple notes an A [A] with your thumb
and an [F] F and these are our core harmony notes.
So with the right hand it's going to sound like this
[A] [F]
[G] [A]
[G] and [A] sped up it's going to sound like this.
[G] [N] Alright so now you have the bare bones pattern and before
we go on and add the energy note there are a few simple ways we can instantly add more life to this
pattern.
Alright so first off you can play octaves in your left hand so [A] all that means is when you
play your A with your thumb you play [C] another A [A] down here with your pinky and same thing when we
play [E] our F we can shift this whole thing down to an F [F] so we're playing an F with our thumb and with
our pinky so it's going to [A] sound something like this.
[C] [A]
[G] So it just adds a little more body to the
sound and even better we can play this exact same pattern anywhere on the keyboard as [Cm] long as your
right middle finger is on a C and your left [A] thumb is on an A you can go anywhere on the keyboard.
So I could [Cm] say C [Am] A and play it down [A] here or [G]
[A] I could go C A play it up here [C] [Am]
or I could go C A
play it here [A] [C]
[A] and so as you can see you can add a ton of different emotions to this pattern already
even though you're really playing the exact same pattern over and over.
Alright so next up we're
going to add the [G] energy note that'll add some [A] more sparkle and some more energy to this [C] pattern but
first this would be a perfect [A] time to go download the cheat sheet it's going to make your life a
lot easier for the rest of the video.
So click the link [C] enter your name and email [N] hit submit and
simply click here to download [C] your cheat sheet and I'll see you back here in a sec.
[Dm] [A] [Eb]
Alright so if you
look at the cheat sheet you'll notice there's a fire icon [Ab] on the note D and this is what we call
the energy note because if we add this note into the pattern every so often it [A] adds some kind of
extra sparkle to the pattern so notice how it sounds.
[C] [G]
Generally I like to add this on the fourth
repetition on the pattern so [Am] typically I go one two [A] three and now I add the energy note four [F] one
[C] two [G] three four but [E] you can really add it wherever as long as you don't abuse and overuse the energy
note it's gonna sound good.
Alright so next up we're gonna add [C] some simple composition tricks
in our left hand that allow you to customize this pattern and make it sound beautiful [Am] or dark or sad
or emotional or whatever you want it [G] to sound like but [A] first if you like this video so far
[C] these videos really [A] take me a long time to make so if you could hit that like button I would really
really [Em] appreciate it thank you so [A] much.
[Dm] [A]
Alright so now we're gonna add some different harmonies
in the left hand that are specifically [Em] designed to produce certain emotional sounds so we already
have our core [A] notes A [F] and F but we can also add in the dark [E] harmony notes as you can see on the
cheat sheet the E [D] and the D so now [F] we have A F [D] E and D we can add these in anywhere in the pattern
and it's going to give it a kind of dark sinister quality to the sound so for example we could [Am] play
[F] we [G] can add in our dark and [C]
it actually sounds really good lower in the keyboard [A] so if I play
[G]
[C] [G]
see how it gives it a really dark [Ab] powerful emotional feeling to the sound and on the flip
side [C] the notes C [G] and G we're [Ab] gonna call our uplifting harmony notes because when we play
these notes in our left hand it gives it kind of a motivational uplifting [Am] sound so for example
[C] [G]
uplifting and so you can mix and match these in whatever way you like to be creative and produce
whatever kind of sound you'd like so for example maybe we start off with [Am] an uplifting sound [G]
and
then we [A] move to a dark sound [Em]
and feel free to experiment and be creative and make up whatever
pattern you would like and I also put some [Gb] of my personal favorite patterns on the cheat sheet
feel free to use these here's what a few of them sound like.
Alright this pattern I call [Am] lift off
[C] [G] [A]
[C] [G] [Am]
this pattern I call car ride because it sounds [C] like a sound that you listen to in the car
[G] [A]
[G]
[F] and this one I call dark power because it sounds very dark and [A] powerful now
[C]
[Am] obviously this is what
they sound like at [Eb] full speed but please [Bbm] practice them slower when you first [A] start out.
Alright next
up we're going to talk [Cm] about using the [G] steam iron method [A] to smoothen out any choppiness [C] or wrinkles
in your [G] playing but first [A] if you like this style of teaching and want more of these free videos
[G] hit that subscribe [A] button and hit the bell to make sure you [C] get any future [B] videos I'd hate for you to
miss out [A] on a video that could potentially really change [Ab] the trajectory of [Am] your piano journey for
the better.
[Dm]
[A] Alright so the steam iron method [N] is specifically designed to transform any sloppy
choppy playing into that smooth confident even tone that you hear from the pros because even if
you play all of the notes 100% correctly if you're playing as choppy and disjointed and uneven people
are going to think that you don't know what you're doing and it's a huge mistake beginners make all
the time is they think that if they just keep learning more and more songs the choppiness is
going to magically disappear somehow but it's not and so they memorize all these songs and it's like
great now you can play 50 different songs that all sound equally as bad right and it's like wouldn't
you just rather take care of the sloppy choppy sound once and for all and just get that smooth
confident even sound on the piano so that whatever you play is going to sound beautiful.
So that's
what the steam iron method is going to help you do it's basically a process where step one we have
an exercise that helps you solidify the notes, step two we have an exercise that's going to add
speed to the pattern, and then step three we're going to re-solidify those notes at the higher
speed and we keep repeating this cycle until the notes feel smooth and easy and confident underneath
your fingers.
Now this video is getting a bit long and the steam iron method is pretty in-depth so
if you want to learn that I'm going to put it in a separate video I'll put the link to that here and
in the video description.
Alright hope you enjoyed that lesson hope it brought a little
bit of joy and happiness to your [Am] life today thanks a lot for watching peace out and happy practicing!
[F] [C] [G] [C] [N]

[A] and so as you can see you can add a ton of different emotions to this pattern already

Zach Evans here [D] and today I'm going to show you a [Ab] simple three note
beginner [C] piano riff that sounds freaking amazing.

_ [Am] _ _ _ _ We're going to build this up step by step [A] using a simple cheat [D] sheet so even if you've

Alright I'm excited and ready
to [Am] go let's get started.
_ [F] _ _ [C] _ _ [G] _
_ [C] _ _ _ _ _ Alright so the three notes are pretty simple we're simply going [Ab] to play a C
[G] then a B and then a G and then [C] repeat. _ _ _ _ _ _ _
So sped up it's going to sound like this. _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ Now remember if you're having trouble getting yours to sound [Gb] smooth like this and yours sounds
kind of choppy and sloppy don't worry later on in the video I'm going to show you the steam iron

even though you're really playing the exact same pattern over and over.
Alright so next up we're

first this would be a perfect [A] time to go download the cheat sheet it's going to make your life a

simply click here to download [C] your cheat sheet and I'll see you back here in a sec. _ _
[Dm] _ _ _ [A] _ _ _ _ [Eb]
Alright so if you
look at the cheat sheet you'll notice there's a fire icon [Ab] on the note D and this is what we call
the energy note because if we add this note into the pattern every so often it [A] adds some kind of
extra sparkle to the pattern so notice how it sounds. _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ [C] _ _ [G] _ _
_ _ Generally I like to add this on the fourth
repetition on the pattern so [Am] typically I go one _ two _ [A] three and now I add the energy note four [F] one
[C] _ _ two [G] three _ four but [E] you can really add it wherever as long as you don't abuse and overuse the energy
note it's gonna sound good.
_ [Dm] _ _ _ [A] _
_ _ _ Alright so now we're gonna add some different harmonies
in the left hand that are specifically [Em] designed to produce certain emotional sounds so we already
have our core [A] notes A [F] and F but we can also add in the dark [E] harmony notes as you can see on the
cheat sheet the E [D] and the D so now [F] we have A F [D] E and D we can add these in anywhere in the pattern
and it's going to give it a kind of dark sinister quality to the sound so for example we could [Am] play
_ _ _ [F] _ we [G] can add in our dark and _ [C] _ _ _ _ _
it actually sounds really good lower in the keyboard [A] so if I play _
_ [G] _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ [C] _ _ _ [G] _ _ _
see how it gives it a really dark [Ab] powerful emotional feeling to the sound and on the flip
side [C] the notes C [G] and G we're [Ab] gonna call our uplifting harmony notes because when we play
these notes in our left hand it gives it kind of a motivational uplifting [Am] sound so for example
_ _ [C] _ _ _ [G] _ _ _
_ uplifting _ _ _ and so you can mix and match these in whatever way you like to be creative and produce
whatever kind of sound you'd like so for example maybe we start off with [Am] an uplifting sound _ _ [G] _ _
_ and
then we [A] move to a dark sound _ [Em] _
_ _ _ _ and feel free to experiment and be creative and make up whatever
pattern you would like and I also put some [Gb] of my personal favorite patterns on the cheat sheet
feel free to use these here's what a few of them sound like.
Alright this pattern I call [Am] lift off
_ _ _ [C] _ _ [G] _ _ [A] _
_ [C] _ _ _ [G] _ _ _ [Am] _
this pattern I call car ride because it sounds [C] like a sound that you listen to in the car
_ _ [G] _ _ _ [A] _
_ _ [G] _ _ _ _ _ _
[F] _ _ _ and this one I call dark power because it sounds very dark and [A] powerful now _ _
_ [C] _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ [Am] _ _ obviously this is what
they sound like at [Eb] full speed but please [Bbm] practice them slower when you first [A] start out.
Alright next
up we're going to talk [Cm] about using the [G] steam iron method [A] to smoothen out any choppiness [C] or wrinkles
in your [G] playing but first [A] if you like this style of teaching and want more of these free videos
[G] hit that subscribe [A] button and hit the bell to make sure you [C] get any future [B] videos I'd hate for you to
miss out [A] on a video that could potentially really change [Ab] the trajectory of [Am] your piano journey for
the better.
_ _ [Dm] _
_ [A] _ _ _ _ Alright so the steam iron method [N] is specifically designed to transform any sloppy
choppy playing into that smooth confident even tone that you hear from the pros because even if
you play all of the notes 100% correctly if you're playing as choppy and disjointed and uneven people
are going to think that you don't know what you're doing and it's a huge mistake beginners make all
the time is they think that if they just keep learning more and more songs the choppiness is
going to magically disappear somehow but it's not and so they memorize all these songs and it's like
great now you can play 50 different songs that all sound equally as bad right and it's like wouldn't
you just rather take care of the sloppy choppy sound once and for all and just get that smooth
confident even sound on the piano so that whatever you play is going to sound beautiful.
So that's
what the steam iron method is going to help you do it's basically a process where step one we have
an exercise that helps you solidify the notes, step two we have an exercise that's going to add
speed to the pattern, and then step three we're going to re-solidify those notes at the higher
speed and we keep repeating this cycle until the notes feel smooth and easy and confident underneath
your fingers.
