Alright, most of my YouTube videos start out like this
Greetings friends and fellow cigar box guitar enthusiasts tell Puckett here and this video is about blob ity blob ity blob ity blob
so
I'm gonna show you in this lesson here a lot of things that you can do with just one finger
Okay, and as I'm talking about one finger on your left hand not one finger on your right hand
I don't have a pick
So would you everything you could do with a pick or do it with your fingers on this hand over here?
Whatever you want to do it with your right hand is up to you.
This lesson is about one finger on the left hand
So we are tuned e
e
[D] B
e
[G] So right off the bat you can take your one [D] finger from the second fret skinny string and just move it [G] up to the fourth fret
And you can also move it up to the fifth fret
In fact you can do [D] all the melodies you want on here
[G] You can go all the way up up to the to the octave the double dot
[D] Down a half step.
It's a major seven chord
Isn't that isn't it pretty?
Go down another half step.
It's the [G] dominant seven
So these are [D] just beautiful chords that you can do with just one finger
So [Dm] I like I like to just find the notes
On [G] that the melody notes on the high string
[D]
[G] You can do pull-offs and hammers
[D] Now [B] here's a cool note right here on the third fret you just take [Dm] that note with your one finger
And you bend it just [G] slightly and I do to the top string and the bottom string [Gm] and just a slight bend
Pull it open
[G] And then [Gm] on the middle string on the middle string [G] on the third fret and walk it down.
[Gm]
So that's kind of a cool walk
[G]
Up here this is the root also so I have a root here
So the [Em] top string open is the root the high string [G] open is the root and on the fifth fret
On the middle string is also the root
So what I like to do is move move the one finger around on the middle string and
Obviously what [Ab] you do on the high string you can always do on the bass [D] string like for example we were doing
You can also do [G] that
Because it kind of
[D]
[G] [A] [G]
[D]
[A] [D] [Gm] Here's the minor third again
[G] You
[Gm]
[D] So what I do is just I take one finger and I find all the sweet notes
And I play them over and over and over and over and over again, okay
So now let's talk about what they call bar chords and what that is is whenever you take one finger
But you cover two strings or three strings, but we'll do two strings here.
[C] So we're just gonna
A two-string one finger bar at the fifth fret here now you can take that and move that [D] around
[G]
[D] [G]
So it's kind of like a partial slide right
Now you can also do [C] a full bar now this one here requires some strength
So what I do is with my thumb as I use my thumb on the back side of the neck to kind of squeeze down
Squeeze them down because you're going to all the notes to ring
There's any dead ones like [Gb] like that
Like that you just need to reposition now what I like to do is I like to put my finger right next to that fret
Not in the backside not in the middle, but right next to [C] the fret to get the best sound
That's the fifth fret and [D] here's the seventh fret
[C] [G]
[C] [G] And now the last thing I'm going to show you here is just a one finger
Rock trick blues rock trick that they do here on the middle string
So we're gonna strum all the strings and there we're gonna hammer and then slide up to the third fret
and then back down to the second fret and
You're gonna do two strums each
So you can couple up all of these ideas together and make a mashup
[C] [G]
[D] [G] [Eb] [Dm]
[G] [D]
[G] one finger
All [N] right
