How would you say that Seattle or the music scene in Seattle, how does that affect you?
[E] I think it used [N] to a lot more.
I think, um, um, let me take that back.
When you're in a place where you're frustrated with where you're at as a musician or in your career or whatever,
it can be frustrating to [A] watch [Bb] your friends or people around you [Ab]
successful really quickly.
Because I think there's a lot of complications.
[A] And people talk a lot about community and it's, I don't know how much I believe that.
I think there are relationships [C] within the music [Ab] scene.
But there are a lot of things that are, that how you do it I think is going to do more [G] or less.
If you want to do it for a long time, you have to create something that's sustainable.
[Ab] And that's been my motto.
The music scene, all of us in the music scene, can I do this at this rate forever?
Because this is what I want to do forever.
That's why I quit my job.
But as far as the local [B] scene, [Ab] I think when I was in this other band called The Curve before,
and I watched people explode and I really wasn't going to be able to express those emotions.
And the fellow scene, all those really unhelpful things that didn't make me better as a musician at all.
And didn't really help me support.
[Eb] I think now I've gotten to a place where [Db]
I like what I do and I'm happy.
[E]
[N]
I think that allowed me to support the people around me.
[Gb] I hope they don't burn out.
I hope they don't have identity crises.
[B] We have all these cool things happening to you at once and you get really excited.
Don't feel evil, don't be [Ab] attacked by them.
But I really [A]
love
[Eb]
[E] One [D]
of the really interesting [A] things about making a living playing music [Bm]
is that [A]
[D] you can write about the bad things you do and then [Ab] people give you money.

[G]
[D] I'm a prop to learn how to sink and you learn how to [G] swim.
[Bm]
Learn [A] how to lose and you learn how.
[G]
[D]
Buy me a drink and I'll buy you a drink.
[A] You don't seem to care what your boyfriend.
[G]

Saying I will [A] protect you from all.
[G]
Fear thou not.
[Bm] [G]
My [D] right hand will hold.
[G]
[D]

I'm the other [G] man's arms.

And how has that affected?
That song, there's this girl that had this tattoo of [E] her.
[E] [A]
Yeah, I've [Bbm] raised
[G] [N]
concept,
went back to square one.
But it definitely affects you.
