Welcome back to money for breakfast.
We're here with Nils Lofgren solo artist East Street band member and our morning music man today
Welcome back Nils.
Thanks.
So talk about the song that you did with Clive Kessler
How did you meet Clive and how did all this happen?
Always read Clive's books, especially the Dirk Pitt series and in 1989
I did the first Ringo Starr all-star band tour.
It's a great honor and
I did some friendly stalking through his publisher got Clive and his family to his show and we became good friends
He's a great guy and I moved 12 years ago to Arizona where I live with my fabulous wife
Amy Jersey girl and Clive's five minutes away.
So we spent a lot of time together about a year ago
He said I always wanted to write a corny country song and I said I'd help him and we got into it in his writing
Studio and it was really exciting.
We chipped away at it for months and really healthy stuff and we came up
It was his idea.
He did the lyrics and you did the music
We did both together and even though he's not a musician what I would do
It was his concept of like some humorous reminiscences of liquors fallen by the way
I was gonna ask if there was any you know, so what the source material Alcohol
Very medicinal and healing and he had the concept and it was fun
We'd chip away and use the Theosaurus and in the studio
He writes all his novels in and over the course of months.
We came up with a song
We both loved and even musically I play him a couple ideas, you know dark light quick and he'd say how about that?
And we'd go down that road
Real quick.
This is only available on your website.
Yeah
Downloading how many downloads have you had?
You know, I haven't checked yet.
We just made it available last month and Clyde.
There's also a
Like a five-minute video of Clive singing he's saying it's just singing debut for his fans
And there's some really good stuff on there some of the cheat sheets
We wrote up and mark it's five bucks, right five bucks for the whole packers
Video and a slideshow run another time gotta ask you what it's like to play with the boss.
Hey, it's it's it's the best
You know, I've been on the road 39 years September doing my own music and little clubs and to be in a bit
I love being in a great [D#] band.
I love playing live and there's nobody better than Bruce arguably
I agree better concert ever saw [Cm] 23 years ago the same month Patti joined the band.
[F] I joined and it's been great
We're we're thrilled that after four years
We're back on the road with a great new record, which is one of the things I love about Bruce
We just don't go do the old songs.
So it's it's been beautiful.
We play last night and
Yeah, all right
For you to take us out of out of this segment playing a little more music for thanks.
I'll sing a Bruce song
I'll step out.
Thanks
