Old Man.
This is part of my beginner series.
You've got a guitar, you're really trying to work this stuff out.
So I'm going to try and make it a beginner's version of the song for you.
Alright, so here we go.
We need a D chord.
And then we need what's called an A minor 7.
[Am]
And if you don't know what that is, [G] if you've learned A [Am] minor already, you just take your
ring finger off and now you have A minor 7.
Those minor 7s sound a little more moody, I guess would be a good word.
And then a little hit on G.
[G]
So those are the chords of the chorus.
[D] Then we need what I call the verse.
And we're going to need a D chord.
And we're going to need an F [F] chord.
Sorry people.
Then we're going to need a [C] C chord.
[G] And then a G chord.
So here is the chorus [D] part.
[Am]
[D]
[G]
That's the rhythm [D] pattern.
So we're going to start with that.
Down, down, down.
Just like that.
Then we're going to go.
Then we're going to go.
One pattern of that on D.
And then that same pattern on the A minor 7.
[Am]
[G]
One hit on [D] G.
[Am]
[G]
The very last strum of that pattern is a G.
That could be tricky.
Now if that's too hard for you, just skip the G altogether for right now.
And the song is still going to [D] work.
[Am] [G]

Okay, now let's talk about the verse.
We have a D chord.
I just went down, down, down.
And that's the pattern.
The pattern is going to be down, down, down.
Down, down, down.
Down, down, down.
But we're going to do an upstroke right before that first down.
So it sounds like this.
[Am] [C]
[G]
Sorry, I alternated that time.
[D] So we got down, down.
And then an up on that D.
And then we got [F] to switch to the F.
So you're going to have to do it real slow in the beginning [D] if that's hard.
