[F] [Em] Hey guys, Sean Hamlin with PremiereGuitar.com. We're at Winter NAMM 2016 in Anaheim, California
at the Naggs Guitars booth, talking to Joe Naggs himself.
Joe, thanks for having [E] us.
Thanks for having [C] you guys.
I really [G] appreciate it.
Yeah.
You've got [E] three new models at this show?
Yeah, we do.
[G] And what we're having Mark here from Snarky Puppy play [Em] is a new, sort of more classic
version [G] of the Steve Stevens signature model, right?
That is correct.
Yeah, we decided to continue our wonderful collaboration [Am] with Steve.
He's
a good friend of ours, [E] obviously an icon [F] in the business.
And what we thought to [G] ourselves
was we were done with these [F] two runs, [E] let's go ahead and [F] make just a guitar we continue
on with and there is no limited numbers on it.
You know, we instantly talked to him about
maybe a little bit more of a stripped down version, [Dm] not with all the [Em] binding and the
sparkle, [Abm] something [Bb] a little bit more classic looking.
[E] That's pink.
[G] Featuring some maple [E] tops.
I love the pink, personally.
It helps with us, [A] by the way.
[G] So, you know, he [F] came up with some specs going [G] off of the
other models.
Still a nice thick neck on the [E] guitar.
You [Fm] know, really increased headstock
[Em] angle, bare knuckle pickups, because we really like the way the mule pick, they're a version
of the [E] mule, I think.
That's still the ones that are [C] customized for Steve's taste.
Customized for Steve, exactly.
You got it.
And [G]
he wanted to go with a little skinnier
bridge with the ABR, kind of going back [Em] to a classic [Abm] thing.
So, it's kind of [G] taken some
of the other things from the SS1, SS2, and then full circle back to kind of a more plain
version of the guitar.
Now, in terms of woods, it's still mahogany and maple.
That is correct.
[F] And they'll all be tier twos, so the [Am] maple will be, you know, in between
the tier three and the tier one.
[G] So, tier one, is that the black one?
[A] Oh, no, that's maple.
I [Em] was thinking we had a
Tier two also, okay.
So, like a solid top with [Am] an opaque finish?
Here's a tier one [B] example of this.
It's like super curly.
[A] So, Joe, how much is the new Steve Stevens model going to go [E] for, street price, [Am] roughly?
Street price [Bm] is around $4 [E],200.
[C] Now, next up, we've got two [A] semi-hollow versions [E]
of [C] existing guitars, right?
That's correct.
[F] We can start with the Severn, [D] okay?
[C] And [F] this is a tier one [Em] version of it.
What we decided to do is come [Ab] up with [C] a hollow body [G] version of our Severn, okay?
Still featuring all the [Em] different pickup layouts, HSS, normal [F] trem with three single coils,
hum single [C] hum, trem buck, is the other one [G] with the two humbuckers, or even a P90, okay?
[B] The one thing that we found, [F] and we originally did the chop tank hollow body, which we'll
show you in [G] a minute.
Usually, hollow bodies have a tendency to have less sustain, but with our bridge, the
way this [Gb] bridge drives the [Em] sound of the body, we were blown away by the amount of [B] sustain
at this [Am] hollow guitar.
So, you [B] get the warmth of the hollow body guitar, but then you have
this really beautiful, driven [D] sound with it.
[Em] Nice.
Now, is the chamber [Ab] just on this side of the [Gb] body?
[Em] The chamber goes [Gbm] all the way through here, down into here, [Em] and then we're probably going
to add a little [F] bit more [C] over on this side.
Nice weight.
Nice.
So, the woods, besides the maple [E] top, around back, what do we have?
Alder back, [C] okay?
Curly rock maple neck.
[G] This [B] particular one has a beautiful T1 Coca-Cola
fingerboard, shell boat, shell diamonds, shell inlays on the [E] headstock, gloss headstock on ebony.
Cool.
Should we take a look at the semi-hollow chop tank [Gb] real quick?
[Em] So, this one is a [D] tier 2 version.
It's a chop tank [A] HSS [Em] HB, okay?
[F] Feature [B] anti-gray
pickguard.
One [G] of the, I think, nice features, we wrapped the pickguard around the F [D]-hole.
Never really seen that done.
[Am] Got [Ab] the, [B] made it so the volume knob is actually a part of
the pickguard, [Am] and then the [D] two tones are outside of it, [A] so it kind of instantly shows
you where the [E] volume knob is.
[Dm] [Am] This is the chop tank version.
And the [Em] chambering, is it going to be similar to [B] the 7?
Yeah, it's going to be similar.
And [A] this particular version has [Em] the, we call it the
one-time perf.
That allows us to separate the stain on this side, stain a completely
different color [Ebm] than this [D] side.
And that leaves [Em] all kinds of different varieties and versions
of the guitar.
Maple fingerboard, rock maple.
Nice.
So, if you guys set prices on these yet, are they [C] kind of in the $4,500 range,
[Em] $4,000 range for both of them?
[Gbm] That's correct, around [B] $4,500.
[Em] [B] Do you [Bm] want to tell people where to go online to find out more about [E] these and all the other
guitars you do?
Yeah, you can go to our [Em] website, it's nagsguitars [E].com, www .nagsguitars.com.
Cool.
Thanks, Joe.
Thanks, Mark.
Thank you.
Thanks, Sean.
Good to see you.
Yeah, you're welcome.
You too.
Thanks for watching, guys.
