Hi, I'm David Hodges and you're watching Music Notes Song Spotlight.
[D]
[F#m] [G#] So I started writing [D] songs when I was [F#m] just about to turn 16, and I spent [D] about four years
[F#m] just writing by myself.
And then Ben and Amy and [D] I started to collaborate together.
[F#m] And yeah, and Ben, he had a [D] job at a voiceover studio in Little [F#m] Rock, Arkansas, that we would
[D] sneak in at night.
And I remember sitting at [F#m] a key, it was an Alesis keyboard.
It wasn't even a real piano, [D] and playing through My Immortal.
And then Amy [F#m] got in the vocal booth and [D] she sang it through.
And I remember laying on the floor of Arca [F#m] Studios, the voiceover studio in Little Rock,
[D] at three in the morning thinking, I think [F#m] this is really good.
Like, maybe I'm crazy, but [D] I think this is really good.
The funny thing to me is that [F#m] that recording ended up being [D] that same recording, the same
takes that were on the album [F#m] that ended up selling 20 million copies around the world.
[D]
[F#m] [D]
[F#m] [D]
I'm so tired of [F#m] being here,
[D]
Stressed by all [F#m] my childish fear.
[D] If you have to leave, [F#m] I wish that you would just [D] leave.
Your presence still lingers [F#m] here.
It won't leave me [Bm] alone,
[D] These wounds won't seem [Bm] to heal.
[F#m] This pain is just [Bm] too real.
[F#m] Just too much [A] time,
Could not [Bm] erase.
You [G] cried, [D] I'd [Am] wipe away [F#] all of your [Bm] tears.
When you [G] screamed, [A] I'd fight [F#m] away [Bm] all of your tears.
And [G] I held your [A] hand [F#m] through all of [Bm] these years.
[G] You still [A] have [D] [A]
[D] all of me.
[F#m]
[D] You used to [F#m] captivate me by your [D] resonating light.
Now I'm bound [F#m] by the life you left behind.
[D] Your face, it [F#m] haunts my once pleasant [D] dreams.
Your voice takes [F#m] away all the sanity [Bm] in me.
[F#m] These wounds won't [Bm] seem to heal.
[F#m] This pain is just [Bm] too real.
[F#m] Just too [A] much time,
Could not [Bm] erase.
You [G] cried, [A] I'd wipe [F#] away all of [Bm] your tears.

You [G] still [A]
[D] have [A] all of [E] me.
I tried [Bm] so hard to tell [Dm] myself [A]
that [G] you're gone.
But [E] though you're [Bm] still with [A] me,
[G] I've been [A] alone [E] all [Bm] along.
[G]
[D] [F#m] Ooh.
[G]
[A] [B] [A] [Bm] [G] You cried, [Bm] I'd [A] wipe [F#m] away all [Bm] of your tears.
