[Eb] I [Ab] think that the guitar sounds on Dookie and Insomniac are, they're very heavy and you
know we wanted [Ebm] something, we [F] grew up [B] listening to like the [Eb] Ramones and Bob Mould sound from
Who's To Do and [Ab] Sex Pistols and [Eb] it's just been something that's [Ab] stuck with me to [Gb] you
know always chasing good [Db] tone and trying to get the ultimate rock sound.
[B] [Gb] [Ebm] [Db]
If there's one thing that you listen to on the Dookie record [Fm] is like we would [Gb] have, I
would say would be the Dookie [Db] sound that was [Ab] in sort of the verses but when we wanted [F] more
power we [Gb] turned it up [Db] and were able to [Ab] kind of throw something down, like you can [Eb] really
hear it in [Gb] a song like [F] She [Gb] where the verse [Db] goes and then right when it kicks into [Ab] the
chorus that [F] big heavy guitar with more distortion [Eb] comes right up the middle.
So it's just [Gb] trying to [F] go from loud to louder.
[Eb] [Ab]
So what you do is if you were to [Eb] turn this knob right here all [A] the way to the left [Gb] you're
going [Ab] to get the [Eb] Dookie sound.
So [A] if you turn it all the way to the right you'll get something [G] that's a bit nastier
[Eb] and louder, something that might sound more like [Ab] Insomniac.
[Eb] Play with that.
Somewhere in the middle I have [Ab] no idea.
[Abm] [Eb]
[Ab] [Db]
[Eb] [E] [Ab] [Eb]
