He [D] was 47.
[E] Ronson's last [Em] major public appearance [D] was at last year's Freddie Mercury tribute concert at Wembley,
where he played alongside David Bowie on several songs.
Ronson leaves behind his estranged wife Susie Fossey and his 15-year-old daughter.
[N] And you can see a special tribute to Mick Ronson later this week in our Thursday Retro slot.

answer.
In this special Thursday Retro, we pay a brief but sincere homage to Mick Ronson,
the man behind the man who sold the world.
[D]
[Bm] [F#m]
[A] [D] Mick Ronson's death at the age of 47 marked [Bm] the end of an era.
Rock music has lost one of its most distinctive and talented instrumentalists.
[A] Born to a Mormon family in Hull, Ronson met David Bowie in [Dm] 1969.
Together [E] they reshaped the face of rock and roll,
with Ronson leading Bowie's backing band, The Spiders [D] From Mars.
[Am] [A] Ronson's tough, sinuous guitar playing was the perfect foil for Bowie's fantasy lyrics and [B] androgynous vocal style.
[A] A no-nonsense musician with [D] a classical [A] training, Ronson brought a new standard [D] of professionalism to Bowie's sound.
[E] However, he was not one to boast.
Even many years later, he was slow to claim credit for his work.
[C#] Yes, I used to take care of all the, [Cm] a lot of the band [B] things that were going on.
And [C] when he [N] finished a song or whatever, whatever he was writing,
we'd just play it acoustically, just play it to him and then we'd kind of take it from there.
And I [G#] used to do a lot of the orchestration [C#] and arrangements.
[E]
After the breakup of The Spiders From Mars in 1973, he pursued a solo career, but this did not last.
[D] I made an album slot on 10th Avenue, recorded another full album and played it all week.
[G#] But I couldn't ever see myself as going out there [C#] and being the David Cassidy type figure,
[D#] standing on the front of the stage singing all these songs.
I decided this isn't the life for me.
[C#] Bye bye, I'll see you later.
[F#] Ronson joined Mott The Hoople, [G#] then moved into production, working initially on Ian [F#] Hunter's solo albums.
After a spell with Bob Dylan's Rolling [C#] Thunder tour, he returned to producing and [G] touring with Hunter.
The [Bm] whole reason [D] that I started playing music in the first place was [B] to [D#] get out of [B] just doing a regular nine to five job.
[N] And I think throughout my career, [G#] when I've got fed up of doing something, I've walked away from it and gone and done something else.
[E]
And that's how I kind of mean to carry on too.
In 1991, Ronson was diagnosed as suffering from liver cancer and given only months to live.
Typically, he refused to stop working.
Most recently, Ronson enjoyed huge success with his production for Morrissey's album, Your Arsenal.
With Morrissey, Ronson updated his Spiders From Mars sound for the 90s.
More recently, he played guitar on Bowie's latest album, Black Tie, White Noise.
[C#m] Last year, Ronson was reunited on stage [D] with Bowie and Hunter, his principal [F#m] partners over the last two decades.
[A] As ever, Ronson wasted few words when questioned about the event.
[Em] There's a lot of people I know who's [E] playing, so that'll be [D] a shame.
