[N] He started out as partner to madcap comedian Jerry Lewis and for ten years they were America's
favorite double act.
But Dean was frustrated.

He just wanted to get out.
After sixteen movies together, Dean split.

Without Jerry, Dean's career flourished.

Well, there were great parties.
Every kind of person was there, beautiful people.
But Dean was never really a part of it.
You know, he'd _ be on the couch, [F] you [E] know, and he'd watch television. _
[B] He was the one member of the Rat Pack that did not jump whenever Frank said anything.
And Frank did not like to go to bed at night.
He'd stay up till four in the morning, and everybody would stay with him, except [A] Dean.
Dean would get up and [Em] leave.
_ He would even [B] sabotage his own parties.
[E] He'd go upstairs and call the police and say the [Abm] Martins, you know, they're being [D] too loud,
[Abm] you know, shut down their party.
He'd like to go to sleep early and get up and play golf.
It doesn't matter where he was, he'd have his golf clubs with him.
If he was on a set, he would be swinging the club.
He certainly had an eye for the birdies.
_ _ Dean's slogan was booze and bronze.
I don't think he just looked at them.
As a matter of fact, I know he didn't.

In 1969, Dean left Jeannie, his wife of 20 years for a 22 [D]-year-old,
who just happened to be Miss World.

I used to go to a restaurant for dinner, and I'd see him there

He didn't seem to have any friends [A] left.

[A] He had done everything he wanted to do.
[G] Last orders were called on Christmas Day, 1995, when Dean [Eb] died of lung cancer.
