We're at the guitar store in Seattle and let's talk about the single Kiss Somebody.
How can we learn how to play that on guitar?
It's definitely not difficult to play on guitar.
I'm not too down with the technical side of how to play this, but I did write it so I can show you.
Okay.
And I think these first shapes are based around thirds.
So, I've got the capo on second fret here and then two frets up from that.
This would be C sharp on the third.
Then we go up to E flat.
[D#m] [C#] Hold [F#] that one down at the [C#] bar.
High E out there and then back down to what would be an A shape.
Which would be, because the capo's on here.
You can play it in slow motion too.
You can get all these.
But then you pull off [F#]
[C#] like
So it sounds like
[D#m] [B]
[C#] It's the verse.
[D#m] [G#m] And [C#]
[G#m] then the pre-chorus is just holding [B] an A.
[C#] And then you play an E shape.
[F#] And then you go all the way up here [C#] to
[C#m] A sharp minor or B flat minor, whatever you prefer to call [A#m] it.
[D#] And then we play this one, which would be an [C#] E flat minor.
[D#m]
And [C#] then we go down to an A shape.
[Bm]
[C#m] And then you just do it over and over again.
[F#]
[D#m]
[Bm] [C#] That's pretty much it, man.
You kind of go through over [D#] and over.
I play a bunch of different [F#] shapes of that.
[A#m] But they're all [B] basic [C#] kind of chords.
What would you tell somebody [D] that's just learning how to play guitar for the first time?
[C#] What would you give them to keep them going?
Just play songs you love.
That's what I do.
I mean, [C#] I consider that's two kinds of playing.
Playing and practicing.
Practicing takes hard work.
But if you're playing songs you love, that's kind of [C#m] all I grew up doing.
