Moody Blues - Question - in the correct Open C Tuning chords
Start Jamming...
[B] [E] Hey everybody and welcome back to the music room.
We had a request for questions by the Moody Blues and Open C Tuning
[F] Which I think is one of the few tunings we haven't done yet, so we're gonna give that one [C] a shot
I'm gonna run you through pretty quick.
It's a little bit of a complex song
But I think once [G] you work on the chord [E] fingerings everything will be easy
First thing I'm gonna do is I'm gonna get you tuned so I'm gonna have you tune up then stop and then come back
So here's our tune
[C] C G C
C G E [E] CGC
CGE so as you pause there
Retune your guitar and then come on back.
Okay.
Welcome back by now.
You should be in Open [C] C tuning
Your guitar should sound like that
Okay, the song question once you're in Open C tuning is a piece of cake song you'll enjoy
Here's how the song itself goes.
I'll walk you through the the fingerings
[Cm] [F] [Cm]
[D] [Eb] [F]
[Cm] [D] [Cm] [C]
[Cm] [C] [A]
[C] [Cm] [C]
[F]
[C] [G]
[C] [F]
[C] [G]
[C] Okay looks a lot harder than it [E] is but bear with me it's very simple our first chord [C] position is gonna look like this
open open open 12 open 12
Open open open 12 open 12 and we're just gonna slide that all the way down
12th fret 10th fret 7th
And [Eb] we're just gonna bar at fret 5 you can leave this middle string open if you wanted to see anyway
So it doesn't matter.
It sounds good
[F] [Cm] [D]
[C] [Eb] [F] [Eb] 3
5
And [D] [Eb] [F]
[Eb] [C] [D]
[Eb] our main verse riff goes like [Cm] this
[C]
[Cm] [C]
[Eb] starts off with a D [Cm] shape and
[F] Goes to this shape, which is [E] open open open to open one [Cm]
[C] open
[Cm]
[F] [C] [Cm]
[C] That's a variety you can [Cm] actually do it just with this bottom string on the first fret [F] and
[C] [Cm] [C]
Then our coda is very [Eb] simple
fret 5 [F] with a bar
The next [Em] chord shape looks like this
open open 4 [E] open 4 3
open open 4 open 3 open open 4 open 4 3
[Em] And that slides down to [G] the first fret
And [C] then open here it goes [F] again
[C]
[G] If [C]
[F] [C]
[G]
[C] you want to get fancy on your way back up to this position you can do this
And [F] [G] that looks like [Cm] this
to open to
[E] open open 1
to open to open [C] open 1
Go from the first fret to the third [F]
and back to your bar at fret 5.
[Em] So let's [F] do that again
[C] [G]
[C] [F]
[C] [G]
[C]
[G] You
[C] can see it's the exact same positions
[G]
[C]
[F]
[Em]
[G]
[C]
[F] [C] [G]
[C] [F]
[C] [G]
[C]
[Cm] [C]
[Cm] [C] [Cm]
[C] [Eb] [F]
[Eb] [D] [Eb]
[F] [Eb] [D]
[Cm] [C] [Cm]
[C] [Cm] [C]
[Cm] [C]
[F]
[C] [Dm]
[C] [F] [C]
[G] [C]
[G] So
Then the song finishes off by [C] hopping back right to the beginning
Sounds
[Cm] [F]
[Cm] [D] [Eb]
[F] [Eb] [D]
a lot better with a full [E] orchestra preferably at red rock
middle of the desert
Anyway, hope you had a good time with open c tuning keep those suggestions coming and can't wait to get to the next one
Hope you have
