Thank you Mike and [E] Megan for getting me to Halifax for the first time in 20 years.
I hope we can come back in 20 more.
[B] [E]
[Am] So, [E] I'm going to play my hit.
Yay!
And, you know, as I was saying last [Db] night, we talked about this a little bit, Tchabitch.
I play [Bb] different songs every night and it's like, that's hard.
How many songs do you even know?
How many songs do I even know?
But, you [Dbm] know, to me, it's like I said last night, everything [D] I have in my life [A] is because of this song.
It's like, I better play this song.
[Gb] My feeling probably [Db] is this song is [N] probably the only one in the [D] pursuit of happiness part of your brain for some of you.
Alright, so, you know, the whole thing is going to be [Em] for nothing if I don't play it.
[Em]
Anyway, so, it's [Bb] funny, when I was getting ready [E] for this show, [Gm] most of the songs, almost all the songs that I played this weekend, I wrote over [Am] 20 years ago.
Some of them even [E] longer ago than that, [Eb] 30 years ago.
[Gb] And some of them, I'm like, [A] what was I even thinking?
I [G] talked to Craig Norley about this too and he said the [A] same thing.
He said, you know, I remember writing that song and thinking, [Bb] wow, that's fantastic.
[Ab] And I listened to it now, [G] I'm like, [B] what am I talking [Dbm] about?
[Gb] And it's like that is exactly how I [B] feel with some of these things.
[Ab] So, actually, I made a little bit of a conscious [A] effort tonight to play songs that I could at least relate to a little bit at [E] my age at this point.
And this [Bb] is song, this song [Gm] is actually one of the only [Db] songs I ever wrote that [Bb] actually has become more relatable as I got older.
[B]
[E]
Well, I don't hate my parents.
I don't get drunk [A] just to spite them.
[E] And drink any time I want.
I think I'll call my dad up and invite him.
Sleep until noon any time I want.
There's not many days that I do.
Gotta get up and take on that world.
Man, when you're an adult, it's no cliche, it's the truth.
[A] I'm an adult now.
[A] [E] I'm an adult now.
[E]
I [B] got the problems of an adult [A] on my head and on my shoulders.
I'm an [E] adult now.
Can't even look at young girls anymore.
People think I'm some kind of pervert.
Adult sex is either boring or dirty.
Young people, they can get away with murder.
I don't write songs [Em] about girls anymore.
I have to write songs about women.
[A] No more boy meets [Em] girl, boy loses girl.
More like, man tries to understand what the hell went wrong.
I'm an adult now.
I'm [Em] an adult [E] now.
I [B] got the problems of an [E] adult on my head and my libido.
I'm an adult now.
[Am] [E] I can't take any more illicit drugs.
[E] I can't afford any artificial joy.
I sure look like a goof, dead in the ditch and wearing a mind full of chemicals like some cheese-eating high school boy.
I'm [A] an adult now.
I'm [Em] an adult [E] now.
I [B] got the problems of an [A] adult on my head and on my [E] shoulders.
I'm an adult [Am] now.
[E] [Em] Sometimes my head hurts and sometimes my stomach hurts.
I guess that it won't be long.
Before I'm sitting in a room with a bunch of people whose necks and backs are aching,
who sang hearing speedy, who [E] just can't seem to get it out.
Speaking of hearing, I can't take too much loud music.
I mean, I like to play it, but I sure don't like to rock it.
No, if I can't hear anything, this guitar is screaming, screaming, screaming.
Some guy screaming in a leather jacket.
[A] I'm an adult now.
I'm [E] an adult now.
I got [B] the problems of an [A] adult on my head and on my shoulders.
I'm [E] an adult now.
I'm [A] an adult now.
I'm [E] an adult now.
I got [Bm] the problems of an [A] adult on my head and my libido.
[Em] I'm an adult now.
