Well, all right, it's great to have you all here and I assume we're gonna hear songs from book of fools today
That's mostly what you are all probably what you're gonna play for us in here today.
Yeah dig the album
We had it recently on new tunes of two featured and they let me play three songs off of it and that much
Oh my problem was deciding which three songs
To play during new tunes of two
Which did you settle on number the numbers was one?
I think that I played and I was trying to remember see I remembered something from eight years ago
But now you're asking me to remember something from six days ago or whatever.
That's a bit harder.
So yeah
Carolina rolling by I played that one the other day.
Oh and I think radio hell I played during new tunes.
It's awesome
That's a good group.
Well, we're gonna play Carolina rolling by right now
That is actually what what we called in the record business what the lead-off single the
Focus song that's right.

[F] MIPS oh here in studio B y'all gonna see a lot of Carolina rolling by here than it did this week, huh, and
We've had
We don't always get feedback from listeners on everything we play, but I gotta tell you we've just been playing this a little while
But already getting listener feedback about how much they love this song Carolina rolling by that's awesome to hear
I mean, I mean we're in North Carolina imagine but but but I mean still it's it's because the song is cool
And everybody feels that they relate to it.
Thanks Joe, and we also we just sent you all the Carolina version
But we have 50 different [B] states.
We're okay, North Dakota
And I bet that was studio hell trying to record all that or did you just punch it in?
Man glad to have you all here book of fools is the name of the new the new album and you know
We're happy to be playing off of it.
I imagine in the live shows
You know you have more time than you have here with us today
Do you incorporate some of the solo work and tunes into like, you know from your solo records at all
Are you just we never we got too much MIPSO material, you know, right once we work through all of that one day
Well, you got six albums to pull from right?
It's true.
It's getting a little overwhelming at the merch table
It's like where's where do we even put these?
so on the on the writing of book of fools
Is this a lot of it collaborative or you know single writers on some of the songs you guys?
Is it all original from MIPSO writers?
Memories, it's all it's all our songs.
It's a combination of songs.
We brought individually and stuff
We wrote together and on this one, you know
We've been writing songs together and making albums together for like we said 10 years
And so on this one
We really I feel like we entered the process
Knowing how we wanted it to go with kind of the experience of having done it five times [F] before under our belts and makes a
Difference we for one thing took our time
We also we did like a kind of writing retreat that there was sort of also like a little social retreat
You know, you can't write songs with people that you aren't fully caught up with their lives about and we we were in the mountains
actually, we were over there and more or less around blowing rock and we sat by the creek and we
Had some fires and we got together just to play music and so the song started very like informally that way
but then over the course of the months we did a writing retreat and
was constant with our producer and they kind of
Evolved and changed and we added sections and subtracted stuff and it comes across
I think is like a full record
But [G#] it really if you didn't if you didn't see how it was made you'd never know the different steps and all the different curves
What was you know in the music what was speaking to you because you know, we pointed out earlier in this
in our get-together here that
Different sounds for you guys.
I mean you to me.
I've tried to find the right way to express it to me
it feels like you are
stretching out your boundaries or
You know somebody else have a better way to put that I mean
It's not I wouldn't call experimentation because you guys are pros
I mean you can play anything you want but in in your sound and your concept for your records you
is
Evolution that's kind of a strong word and overused
Honestly was more like process oriented was I think what we knew we had a sense of what we wanted which like Joe said was
We're a band that's played over a thousand shows together
So we have the luxury of being able to play live and that really I think the tape process really benefits that
That was clearer to us then we definitely want to have these new tones and textures and then once the songs kind of self-selected
We let them take the wheel.
All right
