Yeah, Drinking Problem was the first song that we wrote with our great collaborators and co-producers, Shane McAnally and Josh Osborne.
But it was a really realistic look into some of this band's biggest influences.
It kind of was written about an archetype that you'd probably see [G#] at a place like this in Green Hall on any given night.
But it really is a throwback to the songwriting style of the [B] late 70s, early 80s, [D#]
where there's a tongue-in-cheek to it.
But the [Fm] subject is dense [G] and it's kind of heavy, [Dm] what it's approaching, you know.
And there was [E] an ability for so many of the songwriters to kind of breach these heavier subjects,
but make them [A] in a really [Bm] beautiful way that was like a sing-along.
So [A] this song can be [E] for the blues, you know, it could be about the blues, or it could be a pre-party sing-along song.
So it's one of those songs that fits [C#m] right at home here [E] at Green Hall.
One more [Bm] night, one [E] more dime, one [A] more world, [F#m] one more life
The first [Bm] one I, the last [E] one I, even [A] this time I'm lost [F#m] talking about
What they [Bm] don't know, what they [E] don't know
People say [Bm] I'm gonna drink and cry, that ain't no recent [A] style
People saying [Bm] that I'm hit hard five, it's cause I'm living [E] off the rile
It's a muggin' [D] hard thing to cry, for [A] whom my [C#m] life will wire
People say [Bm] I'm gonna drink and cry, but [E] I don't care
No problem, I can [A] get on, they [E] keep on talking, [F#m] talking [A] conclusions
Calling a problem, [E] I call it a solution
[A] Last [F#m]
[Bm] [E] [Bm]
call gets later [E] and later, I'm coming [A] here so I [F#m] don't have to wait
The same [Bm] old problems, the same [E] old thoughts, the same [A] old, same old [C#m] build [F#m] me up
The same [Bm] old thoughts, they just [E] build me up
People say [Bm] I'm gonna drink and cry, that ain't no recent [A] style
People saying [Bm] that I'm hit hard five, it's cause I'm living [E] off the rile
It's [A] a muggin' hard [D] thing to cry, for whom my [A] life will [C#m] wire
People say [Bm] I'm gonna drink and cry, but [E] I don't care
No problem, I can [A] get on, they keep on talking, [F#m] talking conclusions
[C#] Calling a [E] problem, I call it a [A] solution
Sitting here [F#m] in all my grand illusions
[E] Calling a problem, I call it a [Bm] solution
[A] [Bm]
