Do you want to go ahead and introduce your partner?
This is my partner in many ways.
This is Heather Lynn Hortz.
I'm trying to leave.
Welcome to the balcony, Heather.
Thank you.
You're stuck with us for a couple more seconds.
So, Dreams About Trains is on your new album.
It is.
Heather and I, we're from Chicago and we live near a train track, the L track.
So, it goes by our house about every 15 seconds.
But the genesis of this song, this is Ireland reference,
our tour manager, Marty McCool, he's from Valley Buffet, if you know, in Donegal.
The Kennedys are very revered over in Ireland.
There's still, in pubs, there's pictures of John F.
Kennedy.
But Marty, he's, he's, he showed me this YouTube video of Bobby Kennedy.
After he was assassinated in Los Angeles, they took his body via train back to Arlington to bury it.
But it was amazing the outpouring of people that would come out and salute.
They took him via, you know, they had the casket and the train.
And people would come out and salute and all that.
And I just think about the divisive nature of the politics of this day.
Like, I can't, you know, God forbid something like that were to happen.
I just can't imagine that there would be that kind of outpouring.
You know, there would be, I'm sure there would be a different reaction.
But it was, you know, that was certainly the inspiration of it, the YouTube thing.
But anyway, so it's, when we moved into our new place, the train would go by so often.
I literally had dreams about trains every night.
I likened it to like sleeping on the runway at O'Hare.
It just sounded like there was huge locomotives coming at you all night long.
And so anyway, that was kind of the genesis of that.
That's really interesting.
And y'all are on tour right now, correct?
We are, yeah.
We're going to be on tour for quite a while.
You know, new dates coming in all the time.
Check out the website, michael-mcdermott.com.
And yeah, we'll be coming to a town near you soon, I'm sure.
Well, thank you so much for coming out tonight.
I've been a fan of your show here, and so it's nice to finally do it.
Well, I'm glad you were able to make it.
