Start Jamming...
So, on an earlier recording we [A] worked on Alan Jackson's Mercury Blues, the middle break.
Now let's take a look at the [E] outro break.
Let's take a listen to it while I reposition the camera.
One important thing to remember is that we have detuned the E string down to a [Am] D.
[D]
[G] [D]
[Bm] [A] [G]
[B] [A] [G] This
is [Bm] [A] [D]
[Dm] [G]
[Am] [D] [Bm]
[A] [G] a [B]
D.
[G] [Bm]
[D]
[G] [D]
[Bm] [A] [G]
[B] [A] [G]
[Bm] [A] [D]
[E]
[N] Let's break it down into little [E] parts, starting way up here on the [C] 14th fret of the
first string and the 15th fret of the second string.
I'll just play this [D] slowly.
[C] [G]
[D] [G]
[D]
[Gb] [Gm] [Dm]
[G] [D]
[G] For [Dm]
[G] your down here working [A] off the [B] fifth string and fourth string, [Dm]
[F] [B] [Bb] that's the second string [D] plucked open.
[B] [N] Now you're going to hammer on the third string, second [G] fret.
[A] Form a D minor [Dm] chord up here.
It [B]
[D] [Dm] [Bm]
[D] just slides up there.
[Dm]
[Bm] [C]
[D] You're [E] just plucking several [Gm] strings at the same time and working your way down through
a pull [B]-up.
[D]
Then this [G] next part is the same as we worked on in the middle break.
[Db] [B]
[A] [D]
[A]
Then [Am] you're going to slide up to [G] what's really working off a G formation there, an F formation
on the third fret, which is a G.
[G]
[Bm] [E]
[Dm] [G]
This is where the [B] detuned string can mess you up.
You're hitting a B note anyway.
Where [Ab] you hit it will depend on whether you've detuned your E string or not.
[B]
Try [A] [C]
[Gm] [B] [A] that again.
I'm going to go up here on the seventh fret [G] on the third and first string.
[B] Then second and third string, [C]
[A] [C]
[Bb] [G] [Gm]
[G] so you do a slide down on the fourth string [Dm] and [D] a pull-off.
[G] [B]
Then on [G] the fifth string and then third string open.
Then up to a [D] B minor.
A little bend up here [Bm]
[A] and down to the A.
Again, plucking two strings at a time.
[Gm] [B] Using
[D] that low D.
