The first real rock and roll record I ever heard [D] was Carl Burton singing These Great Shoes on the radio.
[E] And right then I knew what I wanted to [F] do.
There was a lot of love and warmth during those sessions.
[Am] Artists having a reunion, [Ab] laughing about the good old days, shedding a tear, and once [F] again making music together.
There was no doubt that we knew we were [Em] experiencing history being made all over again.
And we certainly could see the genuine admiration that those artists had for each other.
We knew as we went through those few days that we were experiencing [D] something that wouldn't happen again.
It was really something.
[Bb] Then there's the admiration others [D] have for it.
It's so strong that some adjusted [C] their schedules and [G] traveled great distances just to be here [F] for this occasion.
One was Rick Nelson.
It was his last television appearance.
John [D] Fogerty came in from [F] California.
[D] That man is Jack Clement, the man who writes a lot of [Cm] songs for Johnny Cash.
[G] There's Johnny's wife June.
She wasn't about to be left out.
Neither was Tony Wine, producer Chip's moments wife.
Speaking of families, here come the Judds.
All of these musicians were part of a family celebrating some special people in a special place.
[Gm] Lucky for us, the music just [E] keeps moving along.
I [B] [E] spent [A] my summer [E] days playing on [B] the track.
[E] The sound [B] of the wind.
I [A] feel without a doubt in my mind [F] that I'm one of the luckiest men ever to [A] walk on this earth to be [E] able to be all [A] a part of what's happening [E] here in Memphis.
[B]
[E] It was probably like a [D] family getting [E] back seeing each other after 20 years.
[A] It was just great [Db] to be here.
Just a great feeling in the [Ab] room and everything.
I think everybody had a good [B] time.
When we [E] started this whole thing going on, we could hardly say hello [G] to each other for [A] everybody around us [E] and everything.
But [A] we finally got to it.
[E] I won some twos and everything.
[Bb] By the end of the first day, [Ab] we had spent enough time with each other [E] to feel like this was as good an idea as we thought it was.
[B] [A]
[E] [B]
It was great getting [Eb] back in the old Sun Studio.
[A] I really didn't think it was [E] going to sound as good as it did.
When they would do their thing there, man, it was [A] taking you back.
[E] But still again, [A] [E] it was new too.
[B] [E] [B]
[E] When Chip Smulman decided to bring back four of the five people who started that whole world,
[Em] Dick Clark [A] said, take our cameras and our [E] sound recorders and go down there with Chip [Abm] Smulman and make sure we don't miss history [E] again.
I don't think any of us feel that there was another thing we could have been doing at that time that would have taken the place of what we were doing.
[A] It will never happen again and we got to be a part of it.
It was very special.
[A] [E]
[B]
[E]
[Gb] [E] [B] [A] Four legends who helped change the course of American music, getting together again where it all [B] began.
That was reason [Eb] enough to celebrate.
Who knows, it [E] could happen at other [Dbm] centers of music around [F] the country,
whether it's [Db] surf sound in California, beach music in North Carolina, the folk rock scene of San Francisco, [A] the sound of Philadelphia, Motown, [B] Detroit or Doo-Wop in [E] New York.
From [A] coast to coast, this country is rich with [E] musical history, [B] memories to be shared.
It's America's music.
Yes, indeed.
The beat does [E] go on.
Thank you for coming home for our rockin' reunion.
[N] For now, Dick Clark.
[E] So long.
[A] [E] [B]
[B] [E]
[A] [E] What a song.
[A] [E] It's rainin' on me, [A] it's rainin' on [E] [B]
[E] [Eb]
me.
Should I go [B] again and [Ab] back out [A] again?
You [E] know what they say [B] about rain.
[E] But I'm [B] tellin' you, with [E] that rain, it's rainin' through this whole world.
[A] It's [E] rainin' on me, it's [A] rainin' [E] on me.
