[G] It is me.
It is John [B] Reed.
I'm from Port Bowie, New York, originally born in South Dakota,
Sioux Falls.
[G] Yeah.
[Em] I'm just a kid from the suburbs who [F] was raised in art.
[C]
I started playing music when I was [B] like 7.
I was playing the drums, [C] but I was mostly doing art.
And I didn't start doing music for real until [B] like when I [Em] was in college.
And I don't really know why I switched from doing art to music,
[F] [G] but once I started doing music, it just kind of took [B] over my life.
[Ab]
[G]
Piano, [B] bass, I pretty much [Db] try to [G] play anything I can think of.
[Ab]
[G] Man, [E] that would go on forever.
[G] Stevie [B]
Wonder, [E] my dad, Don Cadillac, [Cm] [Db] Flying Lotus.
He's a producer.
He [B] really got me into making tracks.
Once I heard the beat from J.Jilla, obviously, J.Jilla. is [Ab] probably one of my biggest influences. My dad's been a drummer since he was a little old. I don't even know, but [Em] he's been in church mostly. He [Gb] writes his [E] own songs. He's not [Am] like a bass player or anything, but [Eb] [G] a lot of people in my hometown know him. [E] And I've obviously heard all his songs. [A] [Ab] [E]
[Dm] I [Em] made pretty much everything [B] myself. Well, no, I did everything myself, from making the tracks to being on them, recording everything, making it with all the in-house, recording on my friend's mics and using what I could. [N] [F] [D]
[N]
Actually, The 7th came up with that name. He was saying it as a joke in the car one [C] day. We were just driving. I forgot where we were [B] going, but he was [N] talking about trying to think of a project name. He was jokingly using the name Beautiful Music by Ugly People. For some reason, I knew it was a joke, but it just touched me. It just meant something, so I told him I was going to use that title. [Abm] [A] [Gb] I really made that [Db] project just for [Bm] people to notice me afterwards. I really want [B] people to want more. [E] I made a [Ebm] lot of the tracks [E] [N] afterwards. I'm like, oh, that was cool. I want to hear another one. [C]
