Me And My Guitar: Thin Lizzy chords
Start Jamming...
[Db] Hi, I'm Scott Goral.
I [D] play guitar with the band Thin Lizzy and this is my
1957 Les Paul standard
[G] [N] Basically, I used this guitar right after the jailbreak album and right to the end
Of the band at that point.
So whatever guitar sounds you're hearing on those albums, it will be this guitar
now
It is a [Ab] 1957
But when I bought this you didn't [D] think of how expensive these guitars were going to become at the time
They were your working tool
Hence, that's why you see there's
So many dings [G] on this thing when I bought it.
There [Gb] was no
Pick guard on this thing, [Ebm] which was kind of unusual.
I'd [N] never seen
a Les Paul at that point without the pick guard, but
Instead of getting one and putting putting one on there.
I actually quite like the look of that
It really gave it a nice shape a nice clean shape, you know without all the extra
You know plastic bits and all that you see the warm are here with the the pick
Did actually start to take the you know paint work away
You'll see this here to where it's kind of worn away.
I used to wear a bracelet on this hand and obviously
Scraping things off.
There's a nice [F] little ding here.
I think I caught that [G] on a fan
[C] And it all adds to the character of this guitar
I think it's [G] it's got such as you can see that there's a beautifully [E] thin neck on [N] this and it just fits my hand
Perfect.
So these days when I get a new guitar, I always kind of use this
This neck dimension is kind of a template for any of the guitar that I play
but
You know, you'll notice here that these are [D] not standard.
They are my hands used to get so [N] sweaty
I need to put you know, these kind of volume and tone knobs on the end
You can't see it, but there's notches in here to give me some grip on it also
And it's different tuning pegs, you know, I got the locking tuning pegs on there
And that's that's about it.
You know, I love this guitar to death.
It will not come out on the road with me anymore
It's just too expensive now to
Have to [F] worry about what's gonna happen to my guy [A] here, right?
So I [F] leave him in the lockup and I
Pull them out once every five years or so
Give them a nice little loving [Dm] patch and then put them back in and that's about it
[Ab] But it's this is one of those kind of guitars.
I [Bb] don't know if I'm ever gonna
Sell it at any point or keep it for the rest of my life.
But I do I love so that's
That's my
Gibson Les Paul [F] standard
1957
[Ab] I've been [F] asked, you know, [E] where I actually picked this up and it was on a
American tour I [N] can't give you the exact exact date because I was probably too high at the time
[Ab] but
We were playing in [Abm] this
venue and a
vintage guitar [Eb] guy
[E] Came through he brought six guitars with me
He laid them all out on [Ab] the stage there flip the lids open and this is the one that I
[A]
My eye got actually drawn to
So I picked it up plugged it [Ab] in hit a couple of chords
I remember looking up at Phil [Gb] and Phil just gave me the old
Yeah, that [D] works big time
[Abm] And I looked down at the guy who was selling the guitar.
I could see the dollar signs clicking away [Ab] with them
But I made the fatal mistake I [Am] made I [N] got over the microphone and I said to Pete the sound guy said hey people
What do you think?
Well, how's the sound?
He just said two words to me buy it and I looked back down at the guy that was selling the guitar
I thought well, that's it negotiations are over.
I
Can't bargain with this guy
