[C#] Good morning YouTube, it's Haasan Green here.
I just got a request on Facebook to sing,
[F#] May the works I've done speak for me.
[G#] And I remember my great grandmother,
[D#] Mother Sue Green,
she taught me this song as [C#m] a child.
And it was [N] one that I held dear to my heart
because as a child they instilled in me
my motto was,
Only what you do for Christ will last.
So even when I participated in talent shows
and in different competitions,
I never sang so that I could be glorified
or so that I could be praised.
I never had that in my heart to sing
so that other people could marvel
at what my gift could do.
And I'm still that way to this day.
It's in my heart to sing for the Lord.
It's in my heart to worship Christ with my gift.
So it's my prayer that my gifts [C#] would speak for me.
I'm not the type of person that,
I don't market myself, [N] I would say.
I don't promote myself as far as
asking people to be on their programs
or trying to see if I can sell more CDs
than the next person
or begging people to buy my CDs.
That's not where my heart is
[C#] because the truth be told,
if you're anointed to do what you're doing
and if you're lifting up Jesus,
then He'll draw [N] the people.
Your gift will make room for you.
You won't have to do anything.
And I'm a prime example of this.
I opened a YouTube account and it just boomed.
And I'm like, Jesus, God, what am I doing
that the next person ain't doing on YouTube?
I'm just posting videos and singing
just like everybody else,
but it's because of the [C#] anointing
that draws the people.
It's not me.
I'm not better than [N] anybody else.
I'm actually not worthy
to be doing the things that God has called
and commissioned for me to do.
But I'm so glad that He chose me.
And I just pray that this song will witness
to those that are in ministry
that you not seem to be seen
and not worship and not be in ministry
for all the wrong reasons,
but let it come from your heart.
As the old people say,
whatever you do for the master,
let it be real.
So yeah, that's my encouragement.
The works that I've done,
when I'm dead and gone
and when there's [C#] nothing else to do,
I just pray that the works that I've done,
the songs that I've [N] sung,
the way that I've lived my life,
that somebody has been blessed
and somebody's life has been affected
and somebody's life has been changed.
And I get so many messages.
And I know some of y'all say,
I know you hear this all the time,
but you can really sing.
I don't care how many [D#] times I hear it,
it touches my heart.
Every time that someone [N] writes me
and says that you helped me through my day to day
or listening to a song by you
has helped me make it over
or reminds me of my growing up in church,
that blesses my heart.
When people all over the world
that I've never even met before
can be affected [G#] by the life that I live
and the [C#] anointing that's upon my life.
So may the works I've done speak for me.
And this song is by The Consolers.
May the works I've done speak for [F#] me.
Oh Lord.
May the works I've [C#] done speak for me.
[N]
Lord, when I've done the best I can,
Oh, and my friends don't understand.
May the works I've done speak for me.
My grandma said, Oh Lord.
May the service I give, let it speak for me.
Oh Lord.
May the service I give, let it speak for
[C#] me.
Said when I'm resting in my grave
and there's nothing more to be said,
May the works I've done speak for me.
And this is my favorite part, y'all.
The works I've done, it may seem small.
Oh Lord.
Sometimes it seems like, seems like nothing at all.
But when I stand before my God,
I want to hear Him say, well done.
And may [G#m] the works I've done speak for me.
Let me say it one more time.
[C#] The works I've done, it may seem small.
Sometimes it seems like, seems like nothing at all.
But when I [N] stand before my God, I want to hear Him say,
well done.
And may the works I've done speak for, speak for me.
Yeah.
Yes sir.
