Hi everyone.
Welcome back to Songs from Home.
I am here with your friend and mine, the soul dog, Angus.
And he's doing great, and we're doing great here.
But I want to thank you all so much for the extraordinary outpouring of condolences for the love of White Kitty.
She was my best friend, and her loss has been incredibly hard, but I just felt so much appreciation and gratitude to all of you for your words about her and remembering your own pets.
We all have those loves that are gone, and it helps to know that we're not alone when we feel these terrible feelings of loss.
If I talk about it anymore, I'm going to start bawling, and I don't want to do that.
So I want to tell you that I've decided to bring this series to a close.
Songs from Home began a year ago, March 18th, with two times a week videos, and then afterwards it kind of just very informally organized itself around Sunday mornings.
And now that a year has passed, I can hardly believe it.
You know, it was a way to keep the music playing while keeping one another company during lockdown.
It was a way to help each other through isolation and change and loss and acceptance and all the things that we don't even have words for yet to describe the experience of this past year.
You have all helped me so much, and I'm so thankful for that.
To have Songs from Home as part of my routine, my structure, my appointment each week, it helped me as those things do, and I'm sure you understand that.
Now that the vaccine is mostly here, and we are beginning to venture out slowly but carefully, it feels like the right time to move on from this weekly series.
There is still much uncertainty ahead, but I believe we can all together continue to stay mighty.
Touring will resume.
Hard to know exactly when, but when it does, I sure hope I'll see you out there on the road.
And until it does, we can meet back here from time to time.
Pictures of Angus romping through the fields, pictures of sunrises and sunsets, those things I like to take pictures of, and perhaps the occasional song as well.
But most of all, thank you to all of you for your support, for your kindness, for your belief, for sharing all of the things that you have shared with me and with one another.
But your kindness and your spirit, it's out there in the world, and I for one am comforted so much by that.
Thank you for being here.
Thank you for loving White Kitty and Angus.
And the [C] song [G] [F] [C] [G]
[C] [F] [C] [G]
is the one I've picked [B] to go out on, sometimes just the [F] sky.

[C] [F]
[C] [Am]
[C]
[G] [C]
[F] Noises in my head, [G] an [Am] endless should-haves rain, [C] on me like a storm.
[G] [C]
[F] Losses piled up like [Em] wood [Am] stacks, stories high.
[C]
Feels like I've been frayed, but [G] I've no alibi.
It [C] used [F] to be that all I needed [C] was what I didn't possess.
[G] [C] Yearning [F] makes you who you end up [C] as, more or less.
[G] [C] Whatever [F] choice I made that worked out was [C]
[Am] just a lucky guess.
[G]
[C] Just a lucky guess.
[G] [C] [F]
Adventures half discarded [C] and half [Am] held on to now, like [G]
[C] dancing on a ledge to [G] the edge somehow.
I [C]
[F] can still pick out the faces, though [G] I [Am] forget the names and [C] the places that are gone.
[G] But the urge remains [C] to [F] throw caution to the wind, or [G] is it [C] to the star?
[G] [C] To [F] hold out my open hands [C] despite my empty [G] arms.
[C] To wear [F] my heart upon my sleeve [G] just [Am] like a battle scar.
[G] [C] These are battle scars.

[G]
[C]
[F] There's comfort in a late night [C] kids' show's [Am] radio, [C] and in a letter sent and lists [G] of what you know.
[C] And when [F] you don't know anything, you [G] make [Am] another one.
[D] It's [G] good [C] to write it down, [G] starting with the sun.
[C]
[F] Sometimes church bells, trees, and seasons [C] marking times gone [G] by.
[Em]
Sometimes [F] starling swells and tidal [G] moons [C] and filled up eyes.
[G] [C]
Sometimes [F] everything at once, [C] but [Am] sometimes just the sky.
[Em] [C] Sometimes just [G] the sky.
[C] [F]
[C] [Am]
[G] [C]
[G]
[C] [F]
[C] [Am]
[G] [C]
[G]
Sometimes just the sky.
Well, that's it from us today, everyone.
[N] Thank you so much for tuning back in.
We will see you again sometime soon.
But until then, I know that you know exactly what to do.
Stay well.
Stay strong.
Wear your masks everywhere.
And don't ever, ever forget to stay mighty.
And we will see you the next time.
