My [Cm] past four projects were all [Bbm] original music and I knew I kind of planned [Dbm] this I knew for this project
I wanted [Cm] to record a standards record

I wanted to modernize these tunes take a [D] handful of my favorite standards in American songbook classics and
Modernize these songs and [Bb] put my voice and put [Abm] my band sound to these [Bb] tunes and pay homage to these tunes

_ _ _ [Db] _ _ [Gb] _ So my approach to recording these standards on the album was [Db] I literally wanted to play them the way that
My [Fm] band and the way I would naturally play them hence the title of the record the [G] way we play
I wanted to again modernize the songs and put my [Em] voice on them

_ _ [Gb] Sort of [F] putting everything out on the table just saying this is the [Em] way we play and
showcasing our plane and our sound through these classic compositions I

_ _ [Eb] _ _ [C] Wanted to add an aspect [E] of groove to these tunes
[Gb] My music naturally my [Bb] original music has an aspect of groove [A] and in approaching these [Gbm] tunes.

Arrange [Gb] them and record them the way that I would naturally play [Gm] them and I would naturally want
[Em] To put an aspect of groove to these to these tunes.
So I did do that
