I've sometimes sat down in hairdressers and said I was in Meridian and they've said,
isn't that a Scottish heavy metal band?
It's been a while since anyone said that
but then it's been a while since I've changed [C] hairdressers.
[Gm]
[Bb] [Ab]
[Cm] I think [C] over time there's been [Gm] a certain change of heart about Meridian in the [Bb] media.
We're looked on with more respect now than we used to [F] be.
But I think for most people they don't really know [C] what we do or even aware that we're still going.
We have to accept that, we're [Gm] not mass media buying these.
It's a bit of a [Bb] well kept secret for the people that know about [F] us.
And it's okay as long as there's enough of them.
[Cm]
[Fm] [Bb] It's a coming together of like-minded people [Ab] who think that no one else understands them
outside [Cm] of that bubble.
And there's that feeling [Fm] globally as well.
So someone from Venezuela [Bb] might be standing with their arm around someone [Ab] from Northern Ireland or Germany
[Cm] with that common knowledge that they're onto something [Fm] that perhaps a [Bb] lot of their friends
or people who live [Ab] in their town or city just don't get it.
[Cm] They don't know about it and if they knew about it, they don't [Fm] quite get it.
But we get it, don't we?
And [Bb] so that creates a kind of solidarity in the room [Ab] that is completely cut [Eb] in across
borders and [Cm] religion, [F] countries.
[Eb] It's really, really special.
[Cm] [G] [Bb]
[C] [Bm] Describe it, it's an [Gb] incredible feeling.
Quite a [N] humbling feeling really to see that much passion for what you do.
It becomes like a two-way communication with the audience.
They give you their love and their energy and in return you give everything [Bm] you can.
When the five of us get in a room together, for me anyway, there seems to be [C] a certain
magic that still happens.
And that's [Cm] what keeps everything alive I think.
[F] [Ab]
[Eb] [Cm] [F] I mean we have a [Ab] legacy of music that we've left behind.
[Gm] We do what we love doing for a living, so that's [Cm] fantastic.
And [F] there's so many people come up to us and say, you know, [Ab] you've changed my life
or [Eb] you've saved my life or [G] when a terrible thing [Eb] happened to me, this was the song that
got me through it.
So you know, [Cm] you can't beat that.
You really can't.

[G] [N]
