Ah, that's the sweet voice of Emmylou Harris.
Unmistakable.
She's nice, isn't she?
Pretty
voice.
[F#] Emmylou Harris here on
leaves us speechless, doesn't she?
Spiritual.
Yeah, she's spiritual.
It's WNCW, Live Studio B Sessions on WNCW, made possible by Sierra
Nevada Brewing Company.
I'm Martin Anderson here in Studio B with Malcolm Holcomb, who
has darkened our door once again and graced us with his presence.
He brought presents,
he brought gifts.
Welcome.
Hey, Martin.
Good morning.
And it's good to be back at WNCW.
Good morning.
Does your car just kind of automatically know the way here now?
You've been here a few times
and we're so glad.
Not really.
Cruise control won't just send it here?
Yeah.
Real men don't use road maps and so
But we're glad to be here.
Got a buddy, Jared
Tyler from Tulsa, who's been drug into the dirge.
Hey, hey.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
He's been with you here the last few times, so it's great to have
you both here.
[G] Jared, I got to say you have one of the most beautiful instruments.
Thank you so much.
What will you be playing for us?
This is a mandola made by the Dixie Michelle in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
She passed a year ago,
but this was her instrument and it's just one of my favorite instruments she ever made.
Right on.
Cool.
And Malcolm's got his guitar here and he's not from Tulsa.
He's from Weaverville.
Yeah, originally about north of Asheville, Martin, Weaverville.
Yeah, yeah.
[F#] Used to get
milkshake for a quarter.
Big old milkshake, big as your head for a quarter.
And your flavor of choice was?
Well, I only had three choices.
I always got vanilla.
Okay.
Then you added your own flavoring.
Yeah, I did for about 20 years.
[Em] And the flavoring [N] kind of, well, you know, it was over the counter flavor.
That's right.
That's right.
Don't need that anymore, do we?
No, we don't need any of that anymore.
But you know what we do need?
Know what do we need, Martin?
Some good songs, maybe some nice new ones from the new release.
Congratulations on it.
Another black hole.
Thank you.
Another final, it's a 14th album, I think.
That's what they say anyway.
Is that right?
Don't know something like that.
Yeah, Luke's trying.
Yeah, thanks for having us back down here, Martin.
Been around here to see Dennis and Ben
and everybody down here to render and gander and wander around.
