Hey, it's Andrew Huang!
I've got some fun stuff for you today.
I made this track with Lego sounds.
That video is live on their channel right now, and I will link to it below.
But they also wanted to sponsor something on my channel, and I said,
Yo, I have just the thing.
Because a little while ago, my friend Jay just so happened to build a guitar out of Lego.
Jay is a legit luthier.
He builds actual beautiful guitars.
But he also likes to have fun.
He'll do challenges, like once he built a guitar in 24 hours.
And sometimes he'll also use weird materials, like Lego.
[A] [F]
[G] [N] So obviously, I'm gonna play this for you and show you how it sounds.
But I also thought I should accompany it with other Lego instruments.
So I'm gonna attempt to build a Lego kick drum, snare drum, and shaker.
Let's go!
Isn't this little Lego tub awesome?
So our kick drum is basically just gonna be a resonating cavity.
I'm gonna start with this base plate.
I'm gonna build a wall on each side of it.
Leave the top somewhat open so that air can come out of it.
We'll just be able to hit this side of [A] it and get a nice bass drum sound.
[N] Just got the final touches on our bass drum here.
I opted to put this sort of thin layer coming around the top edge,
just to give the sound a little more surface to reflect off of and resonate inside there.
And I made a little geometric pattern.
Not gonna lie, I was trying to make it a square, but with [D] the random assortment of pieces I had,
[Bb] it wasn't possible.
So we got creative.
[Abm] I feel like hitting this with the right mallet, it's almost gonna sound like an 808.
I'm pretty stoked.
And now snare time!
[Ebm] [Abm] [Ebm]
[Abm] So I'm really running out of bricks.
This is not a clean edge at all.
As you can see, I've resorted to using some of the less common shapes.
Same principle as the kick drum.
We've got this container, but it's not [N] as tall.
And I don't have any flat pieces left to make a sort of top skin for the drum.
But I put a bunch of loose pieces in here.
And when I hit this surface, sounds like a snare drum.
And lastly, our shaker is a really small, thin container that I filled with little LEGO pieces
and sealed off for some good shaking.
[Bbm] So we've got our instruments.
Let's play them.
[Gbm] [Eb] [Bbm]
[Dbm] [Bbm]
[Gbm] [Bbm]
[Gbm] [Bbm]
[Gbm] [Bbm]
[Bb]
[F] [Bb]
So
[C] huge thanks to LEGO for sponsoring this video.

[Bbm] Thanks for watching.
