[F#] Check.
Hey, check.
[E] Check.
Hey, check.
There's [C#] a light on in your eye.
[Bm] [D#]
And it [N] flashes for a [F#] dirty boy like me.
Check.
[C]
There's a heartbeat on [D] the [N] air tonight, I hear it.
Check.
Whisper and beep, beep, beep, beep, beep.
[D] Check.
[A]
We're [G] at Sonic Lounge Studios in Grove City.
And [D] it's just kind [E] of my, it's become my second [G] home sort of at this point.
I've made two records and an [D] EP here.
I've [F#m] worked with Joe Veers.
[G] He actually even recorded Carson Drew.
I've known him for a really long time.
[D] We sort of have [A] evolved together in a way, just [G] because we work so well together.
And [D] he's always working on his craft [C#m] and I'm always working on [A] mine.
So I feel like every time we do something, [Gm] it kind of gets better and better.
He just makes me feel so comfortable, but [C#] also offers [B] criticism
[Bm] without necessarily [Em] [N] making me feel embarrassed and terrified and shitty.
Basically we'll hammer out the live tracks and try to get them to sound just as energetic as possible.
Just make sure the vibe of it is good, and then we overdub guitars and vocals [G#m] for three or four [D#m] days.
[C#m] But really the goal is usually to make everything sound [G#] as [D#m]
rock and roll [G#m] and live as possible.
Because I just feel like, and this is just a personal decision, a lot of people [E] disagree with this,
but I feel like playing something over and over again just kills the [G#] song.
I don't like to do things more than five times.
I feel like once you've done that, you're kind of killing the feel of the entire song.
Even if you're going to go in and overdub the shit out of it,
it's just important to have the live rough trap be something that sounds like people have played it.
Preferably.
[C]
Tired of me hanging around
Looking like I just lost a friend
Well if [F] I did, you don't know [G] who
[Am] [F] He goes to another [C] school
I mean [Am] I just wrote, and I don't know if I can say it was inspired by a Lifetime movie,
[G] but [C] I was watching a Lifetime movie when I started writing it, and it's longer than the one on the new record.
There's something inspiring about just really [F] melodramatic, stupid shit to me [G] that makes me want to write a song.
[C] There's not really that same standard for indie, old country females who swear a lot,
so I don't know [F] when [C] the timing will be right for me,
or if I need to suck it up and stop saying [F] shit in every song, [C] and [E] that will be [Am] my big [F] breakout hit.
[C] I hate when I [Am] get to a show and the poster is like,
if you like Kitty [C] Wells, and I'm like, in what fucking way [Am] are we going to play a Kitty Wells show?
And then [C] you have some frail [Am] person with a walker walk in and [C] just die of a heart attack because of the [G] show we just played.
Because I think we are [C] somewhat dangerous [G] in a musical [F] sense, but we're not going to [Dm] kill you.
[C] But it makes us seem [Am] like we are going [B] to kill you when [D] you go expecting a Loretta Lynn show.
I [G] think it's the fact that our reputation is to be somewhat chaotic.
People try to make it worse than it is, I guess, is the problem.
I don't think people like rock and roll.
I think they claim to, but they don't.
