[F] [Gm] [C]
[Bb] Oh, if you think [F] I won't [C] go, watch me.
[F] Whoa, [Bb] watch me [F] move you [C] around today.
[Bb] You don't need [Fm] me.
Ever since her first major [C]
appearance in the early [F] 1970s
when she sang Paper Roses with her dad,
country star George Morgan, on the Grand Ole Opry,
Lori Morgan has been entertaining country music fans nonstop.
Backstage at the Opry, to me, was the most magical [E] place I could be as a young girl.
When George Morgan passed [Dbm] away in 1975,
Lori [D] didn't miss a beat [Db] carrying on his [A] legacy.
[D] She [A] took to the road with her dad's band and toured the country,
keeping his memory alive and [G] winning countless fans along the way.
After Dad passed away, the manager at that time, Hal Durham,
was the Opry manager,
and I bugged him every day of the week to please sign me up as a member.
Please sign me up.
And he would say, Lori, I can't sign you up as a member until you have a hit record.
And, you know, why, why?
And I would just bug him every day.
The music industry soon recognized that Lori's star was on the rise,
and in 1984, she made history when she became one of the youngest people ever
to become a member of the world-famous Grand Ole Opry.
[C]
[G] Candy canes and [C] raptors
Ring-a [Em]-do-do-do [G]-do-do
And a [D] young lady
[Eb] It wasn't long before she was offered a recording [Ab] contract with RCA,
and later with sister label BNA,
and a [Bb] string of hits began.
Timeless country standards like Five Minutes,
[F] Something in Red, Watch Me, and What Part of No
established Lori as a bona fide country star.
I'm looking [C] for something [Dm] in red
[C] [F]
Something [C] that's shocking [Dm] to turn
[C] someone's head
[Bb]
Strapless [Am] and [Gm] sequined and cut down [F] to there
[Bb] Stockings [Am] and garters [Gm] and lace [C] under there
Larry King once asked Lori about [G] her turbulent lifestyle,
and she told him that drama is something that lets you know [Bb] you're alive.
Although she's had her share of drama in both [F] music and her personal life,
Lori has taken it all in stride.
That's what makes me write.
That's what makes me dig down deep in soul
and try and find out why I'm the way I am.
And it comes out in my songs and in my performance,
and I love drama.
Not [Eb] bad drama.
Just drama.
Lori [Gm] Morgan's trophy room is [Ab] adorned with such milestones as 14 top [Bb] ten hits,
12 [Eb] albums, 7 of which have gone gold and platinum,
and 4 female [Ab]
vocalist of the year awards.
[Bb] Her duet partners have [Eb] included the likes of [Fm] Frank Sinatra and the Beach Boys.
[Bb] With all these [Gm] accomplishments, it would be easy for her to rest on [C] her laurels.
But that's just [F] not Lori.
[A] It's a [D] woman thing
[G] [D] It's a woman thing
Love my diamonds, love my pearls, love being a mom, love being a girl
I love to cook, I [G] love to [D] shop, love to love you till I'm blind
[G] [D]
It's a woman thing
It's a [G] woman [D]
thing
Lori [Am] [B] [G]
Morgan has a lot left to do.
She's been spending time recording many of the songs she's written over the years.
She's working on new album projects and new [D] live shows.
[G] She's living up to her reputation as one of country music's premiere singers,
[C] and she'll be entertaining us [G] all for a long time to come.
[Ab] The music shapes [Db] my life.
[Eb] It's the only thing [Bbm] that's the natural high [Ab] in my life.
And it's why I drive thousands of miles and wear myself out,
just for those [Fm] little moments [Db] on stage that really make [Eb] me happy.
And no one [Cm] can get in my space [Fm] for that [Db] time that I'm on stage.
[Eb] It's my space [Ab] and it's my way.
[Fm]
And it's [Db] awesome.
[Eb]
[Cm] It's been a long, hard [Fm] call, [Bbm] but I'll make it after [Ab] all
No, [Db] I [Eb] didn't know my [Ab] own strength
