[G] [C]
[Am] [C] Oh, this here is just [G] more than it [C] means to [F] [C] me.
I've learned [F] how to speak the [C] praise of [Dbm] Jesus.
[Eb]
When the cold and difficult times [Ab] come,
I can say hello, hey, and the woman brings me light.
[N] It's Junior Gospel Music and I am at the National Quartet Convention in Louisville, Kentucky.
And I'm sitting here with a very talented young man.
Tell us your story.
I'm Logan Smith.
I'm 13 years old.
I sing Southern Gospel music and most people compare me to the legendary singer, Miss Vestal Goodman.
She passed away back in 2003, so some people say I carry [C] on her heritage in music and [B] ministry.
But I love [Eb] what I'm doing and it's an honor to do [Am] what I'm doing.
You're starting [N] out and you already sound like a legend?
That's cool.
So what's it like traveling?
It's a lot of fun.
We do it about every weekend.
Different cities, different states.
We have a motor home that we go in sometimes.
So it makes it a lot easier to [Bb] travel in and go from place [N] to place.
When you're out traveling, where do you like to stop?
[E] What's the one place that you just can't pass up?
[N] Don't say Walmart.
Usually an ice cream place.
I love ice cream.
Alright.
Ice cream.
That's where we're going after this.
A lot of people talk about having Jesus in your heart.
Do you have that?
I do.
Tell us how that happened.
I was saved at the age of six years old.
I was actually saved when I was getting a haircut at a haircut place.
That's a weird place, but that's where it happened.
Then I was baptized about two years ago down in Jackson Lake in Jackson, Georgia.
So that must have been like a scary barber to see him coming.
I want to get saved now.
[Ab]
Oh no.
I wouldn't dare let him touch my [C] hair.
You're getting into these concerts.
[N] That's great.
So what are the future plans?
I'm doing what I'm doing.
We have a lot of fun traveling and meeting new people.
But it's just a privilege to be able to do what I'm doing.
You run all over the country.
How do you get out of school?
I'm homeschooled.
Oh, another one of those.
Oh yes.
Homeschool.
Alright.
That's the best way to go.
It is when you can't be there to attend.
How did you get started at singing?
Well, at [D] the age of three years old, I would watch the Gayther videos and listen to the Happy Goodman's.
[B] I was in that group.
[G] I'd go in my room and close [D] and lock the door and let no one in.
Finally, I was told I was going to sing out somewhere.
I refused it for the longest, but finally I got enough nerve to [Eb] do it and been doing it ever [A] since.
So you [E] wouldn't sing at first. [Ab] Oh no.
Oh no.
[D] No way.
[Ab] [D] Oh [G] no.
Can't be.
What is that like?
All [Gb] the lights come down on you [A] and you can hear a whole bunch of people [N] out there.
That's one reason you're not nervous because the lights are gone and you can't see anyone.
Oh yeah, you can't see anybody.
So they can all quietly get up and leave and you wouldn't even know it.
I wouldn't even know it.
They're all out having ice cream.
I got my eye on the first two or three rows.
Well, this young man is serving the Lord.
You can serve the Lord at any age.
