[D]
[A] [E] [F#m]
[Bm] [F#m]
[G] Today I'm going to give [D#] you the lowdown on Let It Ride by BTO
and we're gonna start by going to the key of the song which is [C] F sharp minor
and we're going to go [F#] to the second fret [F#m] and play an
F [E] sharp [F#] minor 7 [A] chord simply by grabbing the fretboard like this
You [F#] can also play that chord by holding down all the strings which is a little bit more difficult
and putting your third finger at the fourth fret
on the A string okay F sharp minor [F#m] 7
We're gonna need a D chord at [G] the fifth fret
[D] like that, your D chord
We'll need an A chord [Em] like this
[A] that's an F form just like an F
except it's at the fifth fret, A major
Then at the seventh fret we'll [C] need
we'll use the same form as we did the [D] D chord and we're gonna go [E] to the seventh position
and play an E chord
like that we're holding that
we're gonna have to go from there to
[F#m]
F sharp minor 7 up on the fretboard
that's your F sharp minor 7 up there we're gonna hammer that chord like this
[A#] hold it down and go like [E] that
[F#m] [F#] [F#m] that's gonna be the trick [F#] in playing this song is hammering these chords
like [F#m] that
okay after that [E] we're gonna come back down to an
E right there that's gonna be at the ninth fret
like that come [F#m] off of it and [E] you've got an
E major chord right there but it's gonna be just held just like that
at the ninth fret after that
we're gonna have to move down to a B minor
9 grab all the strings just like we did the F sharp minor [Bm] 7
and hold them and then bring your third finger in
down here at the ninth fret
that's a B minor 9
B minor 9 and we're gonna hammer on that
like that and then
we've got a B minor 7 here so we're gonna go from a B
minor 7 to a B minor 9 back and forth like that
and then we're gonna [B] go back [F#m] to our
F sharp minor 7
now that we've got the chords all lined [C] up let's see how we're supposed to play them
we go up to our fifth fret
starting out with our D first thing we play and it's gonna go
[D] like that and then down [A] to A
just like that so we've got [D] this
[A]
okay now the [C#] strumming is gonna be something like this
just like that [C] [D] so we've got
[A]
next [C] thing you're gonna do is go to [E] your E chord like that strum it like that so we've got
[D] [A]
[E]
just like that [D] so that was D
[A]
A
[E] E
F sharp minor 7
[F#m] you're gonna hammer on that one so [F#] that's what we've got to do there
now how are we gonna do that we're gonna go
[A] [E]
[F#m] [F#]
again that [D] was D
[A] A
E
F [F#m] sharp minor
[E] hammering back to our E chord
now the next thing that's gonna happen is you're [C#] gonna go to your B minor
9th and go
[Bm]
like [Bm] that strike it and then open it up for B minor 7 so you go
so we went
notice I'm [C] doing the whole time I'm doing this
now [G] I gotta strike it when I need it when I need a chord I gotta strike
but I'm striking intermittently I'm not striking on every one [B] of them so it's going
[Bm] like that and then back [F#m] down to F sharp minor 7
I'm gonna play that slowly and see [C] if you can pick it up here [D] we go
[A]
[E] [F#m] [F#]
[Bm]
[F#m]
[D] [A]
[E] [F#m] [B]
[Bm] [F#m]
that [C] was our little groove going on in the song
okay now the next part is gonna be [F#] a little
[C] now that is F [F#] sharp 5
and that's real easy to do
so [B] what we've got here is a F sharp [F#] 5
right just like that
one finger [C] here [C#] finger 3 [F#] up there like that
on your 4th fret 2nd fret 4th fret
and I'm gonna strike it like this
[C#]
[F#]
1 and a 2 and a 3 [C] and a
then a [B] E [C#] C sharp like that
[F#] and then a E 5
[E] then back into the song
[D]
[A] okay [E] so it's not hard to get back in there once you get that [F#] thing down
[E] [D]
[A] [E] [F#m]
[Bm] [F#m]

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ [F#] and then a E 5
[E] _ _ then back into the song
