[B] [C#]
[C#m] Leslie is one of those guys that kind of [A] invented [C#] the heavy side of [D] rock and roll.
[C]
[A] [Am] There's a lot of music that [D] the younger generation doesn't [C] know that he influenced.
[Am] So many guitar players aspired for his tone, and still [C#] do.
[Dm]
[G] [A#] [D] [A#m] [G]
[Dm] Jimi Hendrix, you got Leslie.
[G] The fathers that created [Fm] it [G] for my generation, for Dimebag and me.
Leslie deserves to be the most important person in the world.
He was thought of [F] as [G] a pioneer.
[D] You got guys like Eddie Van [Gm] Halen and [Cm] Shanker and all these guys that would cite him as an [Dm] influence
because he had that extra special energy [Gm] and that he delivered it [F] with [N] just a lot of power.
[C#]
[E] [C#]
There's a difference between big and [E] loud.
I wanted the [F] guitar to sound like [C#m] three guitars.
[B]
[C#] I never really was [A#] a [B] fast [C] player.
[C#] [G#m] I don't even know what shred means.
What I tried to do was [C#m] play [A#] melodic and work [D#m] on the [Gm] tone.
[Cm] [F#] [G#]
[D#m] It all comes down to [D#] feel, soul, and there's technique there [F#m] too.
When you start stretching [G#m] that string, you got to bring [D#] it back to the original note that you [D#m] started from.
The opening riff is a minor riff, but when I go [G#m] into the five chord and [A#] start playing a lead, it's major.
You want to be able to [C#] sing the solo back.
It's not like in the middle of a song some guy's playing, showing [F#] you how fast he can [E] play.
[B] [E]
[D] Leslie's voice [A] matches his guitar playing.
It's just [C#] two big walls of sound.
[B]
[F#] [C#]
[F#] [C#m] [A]
[G#m]
You don't hear [C] great players.
You feel them.
[G] Good Lord put them down here to [Bm] teach us all how it's done.
[G#] [D#m]
Am I any good?
Let me listen to Leslie West.
Let me check myself against all this great work that he's done.
The tone, the sound, the feel, the story needs to be [E] told.
