Hey, how's it going my friends?
This is Evan.
I'm back with another [G] video.
In today's [N] video
I have for you a tutorial on
We are on time by Nako and Medicine for the People.
This is off the album Hoka
And I had a lot of fun learning this song.
There's a lot of great stuff in there
I'm really excited to share with you guys
before we begin
If you value this video, please make sure to like the video and also consider subscribing to my channel
I've got new videos coming out every week.
So stay tuned for those and
Without further ado here is we are on time.
So yeah, grab your guitar.
We got a capo on the seventh fret
We're in standard tuning
This is going to be a simple
Version of the song so simple strumming pattern
But you're gonna get all the chords all the parts everything you need to just really enjoy playing this song
If you're interested in a more complicated
Strumming pattern which is used in the acoustic version of the song stay tuned for part two of this video
Hope we are on time.
That'll be coming out in the future.
So look out for that
[Eb] So let's take it in parts we've got the introduction there's a pickup to the introduction and
The intro is the same as the verse so [D] same two chords.
It's this like C add 9 shape and it's a G shape
Okay, so [G] there's two chord shapes
[D] easy
So the [G] pickup is
[D] Middle finger on the E string [E] and then a hammer on to the second fret of the a string
[Bm] [B] And that goes right into that C chord
[E]
[A] Okay, so the strumming pattern is just going to be a down-up
[G] Basic eighth note pattern.
So that's down up down up down up down up And
Each chord in the verse gets two [N] measures and the third and fourth beat of the second measure
for each chord
There's an ascending
or descending
There's a descending and an ascending melody that happens in the guitar, which I'll show you [G] so it goes like this
[D]
[G]
[D] [G]
All right
So that's the entire verse pattern [Ab] and the actual tempo of the song is [N] quite fast
So I'm just going to down just to make sure that you can understand it more easily
so then [Abm] the verse happens and
[Gb] It's that same exact pattern.
I just showed you except on the final measure of the verse
When it [D] goes to G on the second [A] measure
When [D] that G is supposed [A] to happen again, it actually goes to D [D] so it's just G and
[A] Then D.
All right, and that's [N] just prior to going into the chorus
So, all right, we got that covered now.
We're into the chorus.
The chorus has one chord per measure and
Here we go again another classic use of this great chord progression
This same chord progression is used in several of the other songs I have videos on a
Bunch of those others check out my [Bm] channel if you're interested in how this chord progression is used in other songs
So it's E minor
[G] C
[D] G and [A] D.
Okay, and we can use the [Gb] same basic simple strumming [Ab] pattern
Down up [N] down up down up down up.
Okay, and
That happens twice and I'll show you how that goes one time through this slow [Bm] tempo
[G]
[D] [A] All right, then we go [G] right into the verse
second verse here same exact thing as the first verse and
[G] Again on the [Gb] measure just prior to going into the chorus it goes to [A] the D.
Okay
[N] So C and G are you two chords and then D in the final measure
They go to the chorus again and the chorus now happens four times through so double the length of the first chorus
then
the chorus
[E] extends into this buildup on the D shape for a total of seven measures after the
the entire course progression, so
Then there's like a buildup on the
extended part and [A] just like
And that's just into when it [D] goes into the [Db] bridge which is the hey part and
Sam is that you so let's show [B] you the groove now roof is syncopated and
it's just four down strokes for the
[Bm] Initial hits it goes like this
[G]
[D] [A] [Bm]
[G] [D] [A]
Or
That happens four times with an a
[N] Two more times with new lyrics then it goes into the chorus again all same chord progression and check out the lyrics to follow
Quieter and dynamic
but same chords same groove as well, so
That happens four [A] times and then it extends on the D for [C] one measure after the four [G] times through that progression
Then
[Abm] Hit the chorus one final last [N] time wraps up the entire song
happens six times through same get chord progression same strumming pattern as the previous chorus and
That is the entire song that does it
So you got your chord shapes you got your different parts.
You got a simple basic strumming pattern
Let me know if you have any questions post something below and I'd be happy to help you out any more that I can and
Again, if you got this video, please make sure to like the video and subscribe to my channel new videos every week
I'll be much appreciated.
Thank you guys [G] so much for your support and have an awesome day.
Take care
