Marty Schwartz here with GuitarJams.com.
Hanging with my good buddy Tony Bruco right now.
What's up?
He's just been jamming some stuff and Tony has a cool lick that he's going to show you
guys real quick.
This can be done on electric or an acoustic.
We're in blues and A, so it's A blues.
Play the lick real quick just without me doing anything.
Let's [G] see.
[A] Perfect.
So, a couple things in there that I know [A#m] I've never taught so it's good to get a new [G] flavor.
So here, we'll zoom in and just take a look at the lick but now I would say it [G#] works over
the one chord of the blues fine, right?
Yeah, it also works coming back to the one chord at the end of the [A] lick.
So if I'm on the [E] E7, like, you go to the D.
[D] [B]
[A] Wow, and that's [Am] where you're coming on the one.
Right, [F] right.
[E] It's a nice rap and blues organ.
[B]
[A] [Am] Sweet, okay.
So I'm going to get [Em] behind, I'll be camera person.
[A] [E] So really it's an A minor pentatonic, [Am] [Bm] [A] right?
Yep.
Second position, [Em] right?
Third [Am] position, [F#m]
right?
So really it's from the [B] second position here, you're [E] sliding to that note in the third [C] position,
coming back to that note in the second position.
So [B] ring finger, you slide from the 10 to the 12?
Yes, ring finger.
Slide it as soon as you pick it?
Yep, slide it as soon as you pick it, [G] like that, and then you want to just let go.
[A#] And what helps with silencing the note is this little mute here, laying your hand down
[E] here, see that?
Yep, [B]
yep.
So [E] then index on the 8th fret of the high E?
Say?
So you [Fm] slide up to 12 and then immediately index on the 8th [G] of the high E?
Exactly.
Then you're going to go to the B string?
Yep.
[Am] So right here you're going to go, so
[Bm]
So you're in the second position here.
[Am]
[Cm] [E] And then, [F#] again as you did this, you [C] touch the note, [B] slide it immediately.
You're going to do the same thing coming backwards here, [D#] so [D] it's
See that?
[G] And then you immediately jump into [G#] [C] [A] the
So yeah, show that [G] little tasty little cluster right there.
This is all within like an A [A] shape here.
[B] So it's, let's see, [Bm] slide down.
Now, get into your position here and [C#m] go
[B] Index from the [C#] 5th to the 6th on the 3rd string.
[E] Then it goes
5th fret, 2nd string, [F#]
7th fret, right?
[E] Yeah.
Then you [C#m]
go
Back from 5 to 6, [A] back to the root.
Cool, can you play that [C] little whole area right there?
Yep, so
[F#] You can just leave this down if you want.
[A] Then you end right into the chord, [B] you know?
Yeah. So it
[E] [G#]
[A] Yeah.
[C#m] One more time.
[C] [A] Cool, now can you [F#] just play the whole lick one time like slower?
Slow.
So it goes
[A] [B]
[A] Again, [B] even slower.
[Bm] [F#]
[A] Nice. [B] Back here.
[A] [F#m] Yeah, I like it.
[A] And there's that.
Cool.
Hey, I'm back.
