[C] Ok, don't run away.
Believe me, it's actually much easier than it looks.
And if you follow this short lesson, you will be able to play [G] the rumba in no time.
In this lesson, we will work on a basic version of the rumba.
The chords I was playing in the intro [A] were A minor, [Am]
G major, [G]
F [F] major and [G] E major.
[E] [N]
Before we begin, I wanted to talk about a few things.
First, if you break your guitar, it will be your fault.
No, seriously, when using the golpe technique, which is hitting the guitar body with your
hand, you don't need to use a lot of power.
So be careful when you do.
And if you want to protect your guitar, I advise you to use a pickguard.
Second thing is practicing quietly.
If you don't want to have trouble with your neighbors, I suggest you to mute the strings
with your left hand, like this, [G]
instead [Am] of
[N] Which is louder.
Anyway, if you're a beginner, you want to keep your attention on your right hand.
Finally, your nails.
They don't need to be super long, but having longer nails will help if you want to practice
the classical guitar.
Enough talking, let's get started.
So this is [Ab] the [G] pattern we will be working on.
[Am]
[N] First step, we are going to use our thumb and we will be playing the A minor chord.
[Am]
So it's actually pretty easy.
We will start by a downstroke, followed by an upstroke, and again, same thing, a downstroke
and an upstroke.
Please make sure you are hitting all 6 strings.
Ok, now again, slowly.
Ok, [D] now a bit [Am] faster.
Step
[N] 2, the goal play technique.
So this is the part where we actually hit the guitar.
So we've just played the upstroke, [Am] [G] your hand is already in place to play the goal play.
The thing is, you just need to slightly hit the guitar body with your hand, just like
you are trying to grab something.
[Ab] Let's say [G] a glass of water for example.
So [Am] again, the upstroke, my hand is in place and I play the goal play.
Ok, again, slowly.
Now step 1 and 2 slowly.
And goal play.
Now a bit faster.
Last and [N] final step.
We are going to use our index [C] finger and I want you to hit the last 3 strings of your guitar.
Just like this.
[Am]
So remember, [D] we are coming from that goal play position, here.
And I want you to keep your thumb in place.
Don't move your hand.
So it goes like [Am] this.
Again.
Ok, remember, keep your thumb in place.
A bit faster.
Again.
[G] Now step 1, 2 and 3 slowly.
[Am] And goal play.
A bit faster.
Well
[N]
done!
You've just learned the Spanish Rumba and you can be proud of your Spanish.
But be proud of yourself.
Please [Gb] bear in mind [Ab] that there are many ways to play the Rumba.
There isn't a right or wrong way to do it.
And with time you will improve your skills and [G] even come up with your own style, who knows.
[N] What I did in this video is to show you a short introduction to flamenco strumming.
Needless to say, you will have to practice regularly to get better.
You can become a maestro overnight.
Well, I hope that you enjoyed this video.
I would really appreciate if you could like and share this video as it takes a lot of time to make [Fm] one.
And [Am] subscribe for more.
Thank you!
