The City Music Series on today is proudly presented to you by City.
Listen to that music.
You all remember that song, You Say is a five-time platinum certified hit that broke records
at the top of the Billboard charts and earned Lauren Daigle a Grammy Award.
Now the music star is back with a brand new self-titled album and she is here to treat
us to a live performance.
Lauren, good morning.
Good morning.
Thank you.
You've won two Grammy Awards, seven Billboard Music Awards, more than a billion streams.
I mean, people love you.
When did you realize that, oh, okay, this music thing's going to work?
Oh gosh, I feel like I'm still learning it.
I always tell everybody, I don't ever want to stop learning.
Like what is it that I can do that keeps giving to the music community and then also where
I can keep learning.
I love it.
I'll never forget the first time I heard my song on the radio.
I think that was one of the moments.
I was in the laundry room of all places and I walked past and my mom had the radio on
and I said, wait a second, mom.
That's me.
That's me.
That's You Say.
That's You Say.
This next song you're about to do, I think, I've listened to it just ad nauseum over the
last month or so.
It's perfect for the times in which we find ourselves.
It's called Be Okay.
When you wrote the song, what were you thinking?
Oh, just that.
We had a little girl write into one of my friends.
Her name's Ellie Holcomb.
Amazing.
If you've ever heard her music, she's got the voice of just a million souls, right?
And she's someone who takes stories to heart like I do as well.
And so this little girl wrote in and just talked about a terminal illness that she was [Db] going through.
And we wrote this song just to kind of give her comfort in the time of her passing.
We can't wait to hear you sing it live.
Thank you.
Lauren Day will take it away. Thank you.
