Salut les amis, how's it going today?
Ivan Petit here.
Today I'm gonna do an original song for you folks.
This is one I wrote with one of my good buddies, Mr.
Johnny Rhee.
You might know who he is.
We wrote a song together called Last Night about 15 years ago.
I think we wrote it, if my memory serves me correctly.
It's a little different from the other songs that we've written together, but I'll still share this one with you folks.
Like I said, it's called Last Night.
So here we go.
[C#] [C#m] [B] [C#m]
I sat down on that chair
[A] To go back my [E] hair To [A] [B] see a stranger look at [C#m] me
His eyes were [E] black [A] He wore [E] a hat
[A] [B] To hide the horns that laid [C#m] beneath
[B] When I picked up the cards he dealt He took [C#] control
[C#m] [B] Then he grabbed me by the shirt and pulled [C#m] me close
He [A] said, son, are you a gambler?
[B] Do you want to bet your life?
I [A] played [B] cards with the devil [C#m] last night
[B] [C#m] There was no way for me to see What [A] he was hiding up his sleeve
Or what laid [B] behind that crooked [C#] [C#m] smile
[B] [C#m] But I had to trust my heart He [A] was bluffing from the start
And I [B] was waiting for [C#m] a sign
[B] I could tell by the disappointment on his [C#] [C#m] face
[B] When he realized he was up against [C#m] my faith
I knew [A] God and all his [B] angels Would come down to save my life
So I played [A]
cards [B] with the devil last [C#m] night
He [E] stood up and [B] tossed the table [C#m] across the floor
And [E] said, I don't [B] want to play with [C#m] you no more
I [A] grabbed him by the shoulder [B] Then I turned him around
I said, [E] you worthless [B] fallen angel without [C#m] wings
[E] I don't give a [B] damn about what [C#m] you think
Cause [A] my soul belongs to heaven
[B] And you'll never take my life, that's [A] what I said
[B] To the devil last [C#m] night
[E] I said, you worthless [B] fallen angel [C#m] without [E] wings
I don't [B] give a damn about [C#m] what you think
[A] Cause my soul belongs to heaven
[B] And you'll never take my life, that's [A] what I said
[B] To the devil last night
