Start Jamming...
Here we go
[Em] [N]
[F] Mute off and intro
[E] [E]
[Em] Rope line
[G]
[Em] [B] [Em]
Okay ready for the verse
[B] [Em]
[E] I do all [Em] the talking
[B] [Em]
I came across a place in the [G] middle of nowhere
With a big black horse and a cherry [Em] tree
[Em]
I felt a little fear from my back
Said don't lose back just to come walkin'
With a big black horse and a big straight
Said hey that day we married me
Going into the chorus
That's in the [N] wrong room
[Em] [D]
[D] [Gm] [Em]
[D] [Em]
[Gm] [Em]
[D#]
[C] [F#]
[Em] Into the chorus
I said no [D] no
[A] No [Em]
no no no No [D] no
[Em]
[D] No no [Em]
no no No [D] no
[E] No no [Em] no no No no
So the trick at the end of the chorus when you have that stop
because you've got to stop the pedal
[A] when you've got that stop
it's just to miss [Em] the last tambourine
don't worry about it
So you'll go No [D] no
[Em] No no No [D] [G] no
[E]
And what I [E] do
so I don't have to always look at my feet
is just make sure you can always get your foot
up to the side of the pedal here
so you don't need to look at it all the time
[Em] so you'll be going like this
[D]
[Em] So [D] stop the tambourine
foot up to the side of the pedal and you can [G] just go
[N] And you know where you are with your feet
you've just got to have good balance
I actually went to the doctor
because I was getting a really sore hip
and it turned out that I was
standing on one leg all the time
because I was going like this with my foot
and the doctor told me I was going to end up
with a massive leg on this side
and a really tiny little withered one on this side
so something to look forward to definitely
Right!
So that's that
So let's go
let's go from the chorus into the middle eight
Chorus
2, 3, 4
[D]
[A] [Em] [D]
[Em] [D]
[Em] [D]
[E] [Em]
[E]
So the middle eight
you're basically playing the intro once round
and then it goes into
no sound from your guitar
so you can just mute your guitar
after you've done the wee kind of intro repeat thing
So you're coming out of the chorus
[D]
[Em] Ok, [D]
at that point you can mute your guitar
[N] so you've not got any noise
and then it's the
no no singing part
which you can kind of add, let's do what you want
So this [F#] bit you're meant to sling your guitar [D] back here
so you've got your hands
[F#] [F]
[B] After you've done that, you want to put in this little part
and I think on the record
you would have played it through a kazoo
but to get a good sound like a kazoo
you just put your hand in a little tube and
and that's the sound you want to make
you want it [N] to sound like a little sort of kids toy
and the part goes
so we want to put this in on the loop
so as it's going, you've just sang
[D#]
So that's the chorus
[F#] [D#]
So that's in the pedal
and just do it up the octave as well
[F#]
[D] Again, you don't want it too loud
so just back off the mic a wee bit
[F#] [N] So, what you can do now
is do a kind of back and vocal section
where you sing the big black horse line
and it's big black horse and a cherry tree
I can't quite get there because my heart
forsaken me, that's the lyrics
and basically you just want to
sing it over the loop but you want to come off the mic
because you've still got your lead vocal
that you want to come to strongest
so just back off the mic to sing that
so the loops go in
[D] and press [G] record
[G]
[Em] Ok, unmute your guitar
and you can start the out
getting [E] back into the chorus
Rock slide coming
[D] [Em]
[D] [C] [Em]
[D] [Em]
[D] [Gm] [Em]
[D] [G]
[Em] [D] Rock
[Em] [D] [Em]
[D] [N]
slide
So just make sure when you get to the end of the song
that you get that
dead on when you stop
because that's your kind of finisher
that's what people are going to remember you by
as you leave the coffee shop
and as they leave the coffee shop
so you have to make that quite impressive
make sure you give it as much as you've got
for that last vocal line
Yeah, so you've got your whole loop going
you've got your strumming down
and really, the best thing
is to just make up your own stuff in between
Alright, well that's my Black Horse tutorial
and you know where that song came from
it was from listening to a lot of old blues music
and really when you listen to that stuff
like Howlin' Wolf
or Sonny Boy Williamson
who else was I listening to
a lot of Bo Diddley
Bo Diddley was the inspiration really
for that song
and it's all about stamping on the floor
it's all about clapping
and it's really so centred around rhythm
so if you haven't got great rhythm
then get someone that you have got great rhythm
to come in and just clap along
and if they're clapping in time
and you can play to them, that'll really help
just having something to play to
even if you've got a metronome, just practice
as it clicks
a metronome is just a little machine
you can get it, a little battery, it's got a little pendulum
and it'll tick in time
and just practice getting in time
because that's basically the crux of the tune
and really
just move your body
because that'll help as well
but thank you very much for watching
it's been a pleasure to
inform you, hopefully
about how to play it and have fun
