I love original Delta Blues music.
It's kind of funny, I listened to a lot of pop music growing up.
I grew up in Baton Rouge and Louisiana, and South Louisiana in particular,
has a rich history of great artists and musicians.
But in Baton Rouge, it's just more pop music.
The historic stuff and the more classic stuff just didn't
It was around, but you had to go find it.
I couldn't go hang out at a bar yet to go see the blues band play when I was 14.
Well, I could.
Maybe I did a time or two, but you're not supposed to.
But I love original Delta Blues music.
I moved to New York when I was 18 and lived here for a few years.
It was here that I actually had a boyfriend at the time
who really was into original acoustic Delta Blues music.
He sort of introduced me to that, and that changed my world.
It just made a lot of sense to me.
It seemed like something so familiar that had been with me forever,
but I just hadn't met it yet, you know?
Honey, leave the light on
Cause as far as I can see
Oh, the road that leads you far away
Brings you back eventually
So honey, keep your heart warm
Cause I'm coming home to you
And if rockin' and rollin' don't save your soul
I don't know what you are gonna do
Honey, honey, honey, yeah, honey, honey
Honey, honey, honey, yeah, honey, honey
So honey, leave the light on
Cause as far as I can see
Oh, the road that leads me far away
Brings me back eventually
So honey, keep your heart warm
Cause I'm coming home to you
And if rockin' and rollin' don't save my soul
I don't know what I am gonna do
Honey, honey, honey, yeah, honey, honey
Honey, honey, honey, yeah, honey, honey
When your road is getting long
And you don't know where to go
Come and rest your weary bones
I'm gonna satisfy your soul
Your soul, your soul
So honey, leave your light on
Cause as far as I can see
Oh, the road that leads us far away
Bring us back eventually
So honey, keep your heart warm
Cause I'm coming home to you
And if rockin' and rollin' don't save us all
There ain't much more we can do
Honey, honey, honey, yeah, honey, honey
Honey, honey, honey, yeah, honey, honey
