Welcome to Hound Pound Studio.
[Db] [E] [Eb]
[Bb]
[Db] [E]
[Eb] [Bb]
[F] [Bb] Lay down your burdens by the [Bbm] riverside.
Actually we approached this album differently.
[F] How we wrote the song.
[Bb] That would be true Jerry.
Doug, you agree with that?
No.
Welcome [Fm] to the groove machine.
Welcome to [Bb] the [Eb] groove.
[Db]
What was different about this record is we [N] all actually got together and wrote songs [E] together.
[Bbm]
Usually in the past we all [C] bring in demos [F] of songs to do a record [Db]
that we've worked on [E] individually.
[Bbm] And then [F] sort of do [Bb] some minor changes or whatever.
Make it a band thing.
This time we actually came into the studio [Bbm] without songs.
[F] [Bb] Basically just [Fm] waiting to see [N] what was going to happen.
This one is done with just the three of us.
Nobody else is [Bb] at the helm but the three of us writing and playing and recording and everything.
So we would literally [Eb] write a [F] song one day and then put the drum tracks and record it right then and there.
And then [Db] move on and write another [Eb] song the next day and just sort of wrote everything together.
It's the [Db] most [F] band effort King's X record we've ever made and also one of the most fun we've ever done.
[E] I wanted to make a [Ab] record that was truly [Eb] the heart of [Db] King's X.
I feel like this is going to be the truest King's [C] X record.
The first part of the recording we did here at Hound Pound Studio.
[G] It's me and a couple of friends of mine who bought a studio.
[F] We did the drum tracks and some [D] of the [C] basic tracks.
Then we're [Gbm] going to [Cm] go over to Ty's place.
[G] We'll be finishing up at Alien Beans [Bb] Studios doing vocals, leads, percussion, [N] mixing and mastering and all that good stuff.
I'm going to do the singing at home.
And when all [Bbm] that's done we're going to go to my place and have a [B] lunatic party.
[Eb]
[Ab] [Eb] [B]
[Eb] [B] [Eb]
[B] [Eb] Well [Db] first of all King's X is kind [Bb] of a mystery to [Db] us.
It has been all along [Eb] but we seem to do [Db] [Eb] really decent [Db] live [F] business town to town.
Even when we find out other bands are having a [B] hard time getting people to come to shows.
We seem to always [F] have, we've been very lucky to so far have [Db] really good [Eb] tours.
Every tour [B] a lot of people showing [Db] up, a lot of hardcore King's X supporters.
It's [Eb] really something that [Db] we don't really understand but are really happy about.
[Eb] Some of the cities we do well [B] in, [Gbm] LA is always just [Db] great to play.
[B] We have a lot of [N] friends there for one thing.
It's a real good city to play.
New York is really good for us.
Chicago is really [Ab] good for us.
[Eb] We've had some great shows in Atlanta, Houston, [Db] Dallas, Austin.
[F] Austin is excellent.
San Francisco is great.
[Db]
Austin.
[Ebm] Yeah, Austin.
[Db] A lot of cities we [B] do really well in and just people [Db] keep coming [Eb] to the shows.
[Abm] Just packing it out.
[Gbm] It's really amazing to us.
[Db]
[Eb] [Db] Yeah, we played [F] in front of, yeah Denver we did the [B] Mile High Stadium thing one night [Db] here.
That was a blast.
Yeah, we've been [B] lucky to do some big [Bbm] shows that [Bb]
we [N] couldn't figure out what we were doing on the bill.
We played Woodstock too.
We had prime time Friday night opening [Eb] night like between Live and Sheryl Crow.
I don't know how that happened but it [Db] was a pretty excellent [E] spot to be in.
[Gb]
[Ab] Woodstock!
[Eb] [A]
[B] [G] [N]
[Db] [B]
[Eb]
[E] [Gb] [Eb]
We've done [Ebm] all the tracks and we don't have any [B] lyrics for most [Db] of the [Eb] songs.
So what we're going to do is everybody is going to throw stuff in [B] a pile [Eb] and we're going to come up with [B] melodies and things like that [Eb] and collaborate on that.
[Ab] It's going to be fun because it might come up with something different.
We literally would come [Gb] in, very literally, [D] no earthly idea what we're going to do today and what we're going to [E] record.
[Bb] By the end of the day, every day,
[B] we've [Db] been really surprised.
[Fm]
[Bb] We [Ab] can't believe that all this music is coming out totally unplanned.
[Db] I [Eb] wonder why we've been doing it so hard all this [Bb] time.
[Gb] Because when you take somebody's [Db] demo and then try to make the band do the demo, it's much more [E] difficult than just writing [Bb] it together and everybody is at home on the [Em] park.
That they're [Ab] doing.
[Bbm] So [E] it's just [Db] been a blast.
[Eb] [Db]
What the fuck?
[Dbm] Church?
I did that.
That was funny.
Be real quiet Jerry, I think we might have a take.
Yeah, I [B] think we might have a take.
Man, can't you [Eb] play better than that?
It [Gbm] sucks!
[B]
I'm going in to listen now.
Me and Doug are going to go get something to eat, write a new song while we're gone.
You're fired.
[Ab] See ya.
