Welcome to [Bm] Balcony TV Melbourne, filmed here in [N] St Kilda and I'm very excited to be here
with USA singer songwriter [Eb] Keena Grannis.
How are you?
Good, how are you doing?
Good, [Ab] good, good.
Now what song are you going to hear from me today?
I think I'm going to play In Your Arms.
Lovely, [C] take it away.
Thanks.
[A]
[C] Hush now, let's go quite too [A] far.
Where it first started, [C] cold night, us lying in [A] the dark.
I felt my heart [F] was trying to find a place for you [G] to stay, a place where I'd feel [C] safe.
Anything we have [G] known, anything we've [Am] forgotten.
In the rain and the [F] dark we'll lay, in your arms, in your [C] arms I'll stay.
Anything we have [G] known
Anything we've [Am] forgotten
In the rain, in the dark [F] we'll lay
In your arms, in your [C] arms I'll stay
[A]
[C] Take my hands, go [Am] into the trees
[C] Behind the branches, [D] falling on [A] our knees
[F] I love feeling [G] like this part of us
Will never [C] change
Anything we have [G]
known
Anything we've [Am] forgotten
In the rain, in the [F] dark we'll lay
In your arms, in your [C] arms I'll stay
Anything we have [G] known
Anything we've [Am] forgotten
In the rain, in the [F] dark we'll lay
In your arms, in your [Am] arms I'll stay
Follow [F] me
We both [Am] know the way
[G] It's always been the same
Anything we have known
Anything we've [Am] forgotten
In the rain, in the [F] dark we'll lay
In your arms, in your [C] arms I'll stay
Anything we have [G] known
Anything we've [Am] forgotten
In the rain, in the [F] dark we'll lay
In your arms, in your [C] arms I'll stay
In your [G] arms I'll stay
In your [Am] arms I'll stay
In your [F] arms I'll stay
In your [C] arms I'll stay
[E] [N]
[Bb] [C] Now it's your first time touring [D] Australia
You haven't had much radio play here
But you definitely do have a fan base here
So how did you know it was the right time to come to Australia?
[G] Well, to be honest I've been trying to get here for a while
I guess for me what [G] I've done has always been internet based
So it's, you know, it's everywhere
It's like spread out
[Cm] And I know that there have been [D] some people here
Being like, come over, come over
So we've been trying and trying and you know
You never know what to expect once you actually go and do it
But [Gm] you know they've been selling out
And the [Eb] people have been amazing
[C] And it's just been really, really awesome
I feel [Eb] very grateful
And I have seen a lot about you on the internet
And you did pretty much I guess start your career
[N] And it really has been pushed by the internet
Now because you've got such a connection with your fans
That way do you feel that they feel like they know you?
Almost as a person?
Yeah, and I think they do to an extent
I mean there are a couple things that I keep [A] to myself
But other than that it's [B] like
They've kind of been [Ab] there throughout the whole thing
And a [E] lot of them do feel like [Ab] family in a way to me
So I do feel like the relationship [G] is pretty close
And it's pretty direct
With things like Twitter, you know
Where you can just have a conversation
And I guess you do invite them into your bedroom
And into your laundry room when [Ab] you're sitting there
Yeah, they've seen a lot of my house
[B] You must have to do a quick tidy up before you do this
Or I [C] just point away from my mess
Put it all in the corner
I've done that one before
[D] Now your album [Eb] Stairwells
I understand that you released [C] it once
And then you actually got back and re-worked the album
[E] And released it a second time
I know a lot of artists really do [N] dream of being able to re-work an album
So how was it getting the opportunity to kind of work on [Ab] tracks that you were not so much [Eb] happy with
But you really wanted to work on some more
Well for the [C] most part
We added a couple new songs which was fun
Because it kind of gave it some new life
[N] But more than anything it was the opportunity to
Give the album more of a life than it had
And share it with more people
Because the first [G] release was very much me in my bedroom
Just going okay
Giving it to the world and hoping it [A] worked out
And that was really amazing
But now we have some partners
And we're able to release it physically around the world
So that's been so amazing
Like see it in a store
Something that I [Eb] couldn't have done on my own
So that's been really fun
Absolutely and it did get you [N] here in Australia
Which is amazing
And I just want to touch on
I guess we can't talk to you without bringing up that amazing film clip
That involves a million zillion jelly beans
Now it took so long to do
I know that it took two years in its entirety
To work on that film clip
So obviously you worked with some partners
And a team
But how did you [Dbm] actually push on
Because I know after two months
I'd be like [E] let's scrap this
Let's just do a cartoon
I'm just going to stand in a [F] park and sing
I mean I think it helped [N] that everyone believed in it so much
Another thing that helped
Is that we had no idea how long it was going to take
So in the back of our minds we always thought
We were almost done
Like oh one more month
And it keeps going for 22 of them
But I think the biggest thing
Was just that we were all so invested
Everyone was [F] donating their time
All the beans were donated
And it was just like we have to do this
It went a lot longer than planned It's [Eb] amazing
It's such a job well done So [Bb] congratulations
Thank you so much
Thank you for joining us here on Balcony TV Melbourne
