[Eb] [Ab] Two mothers growing up together through a golden age
We never [Eb] realised [Bbm] it, our lives do [Ab] change
Days of pure inspiration
Pop Don't Stop is the first duet I've ever done with my brother
and of course we've been making records right [Eb] from the beginning [Ab] together
with Kids in America and all subsequent songs
[Db] and he's still my co-writer, my producer, the MD of my band [Eb] and my best friend
and [Fm] Pop Don't Stop really is a little homage to pop music from Ricky and I
thanking [Db] it so much for all the inspiration [Ab] it's given our lives
and all the joy [Eb] and wonderful things it's brought into [Fm] our lives
and still [Db] does, so yeah, [Ab] Pop Don't Stop
The [Eb] idea for the [Fm] video came from a couple of conversations that [Db] myself and Kim had
the first [Ab] of which was talking about referencing the [Eb] Elvis Costello song Pump It [Fm] Up
and he felt there was a similarity [Db] between that and Pop Don't Stop
and when we [Ab] remembered the video [Ebm] of just him and the band in that really cool [Bbm] white background
[Db] and the band dressed in a certain [Ab] way and Elvis doing his unique performance [Eb] to camera
we thought let's use that as a visual [Fm] reference
so that's why [Db] we started the way we had
[Ab] and when I started looking at the technical difficulties in filming in a [Eb] white room like that
to get that really pure sort of unnaturally white room was really difficult
if you actually shoot it in [Db] a white room because it kind of had to [Eb] overexpose the real high end of the picture
and that can do weird [Fm] things to everyone's skin and everything else in the shot
so we made the decision to shoot it in [Db] a green screen room
so the whole room was [Ab] green and then we just keyed out the green and replaced it with [Eb] white later
[Fm] and there was a few other things obviously that we [Db] did with the green screen
which was good [Ab] fun and makes the video a little bit more exciting
then [Eb] obviously there's the looks, the [Fm] genre looks
that came [Db] about quite early in the discussion about the [Ab] video
it was like obvious we've got to do this, Kim was really up for [Eb] it
really good fun [Db] thing to do with costume and make up
[Ab] but we [Eb] realised we had to keep it [Fm] short and just on the beats where [Bbm] the lyrics actually mention the [Fm] different genres
which is what we ended [Db] up doing
and then it was just a case of how do we treat [Ab] that in post to give it a [Eb] kind of an interesting look and [Fm] feel
