Killer Dwarfs - Canadian television interview (1989) chords
Start Jamming...
They've been around for four years.
They've got three records out, the [B] latest one being on a major label.
And unlike [B] Canada, in parts of the States, they're [Ab] headliners.
They also have the respect of their musical peers because recently they were asked to tour internationally [N] with mega-medalist Iron Maiden.
But at home, the killer dwarfs have an identity problem.
Which [Bb] is really too bad because it's not often you run into metal guys with such a bent sense of [Ab] humor.
[Bb]
[C] [Ab] [Eb]
[Db] [F] [Eb] [F]
[Db] [C] [Eb] [F]
[Db] [Ab] [Eb] [F]
[Db] [Fm] Now [Ab] that you've got the major deal, like when you're writing these new songs,
and thinking about them for the new record, it's not like anymore, like you just have to be pleased.
The record company has to be pleased too.
What are they thought of it?
We sent them down seven [N] tunes and wondering what the response was going to be and it was great.
They believe in it as much as we do.
And we're not doing anything different that way.
We always try to do the best we can, but we're excited about it.
Because we've had the big deal, we've already got that, and the money and everything.
So we're more relaxed with the situation now.
Like last year, it was like, oh my god.
After all those years, it was great to finally have that opportunity to do that.
Now we've settled into it more and we're getting our aggression back.
The perspectives are a little different.
It's playing live so much too.
You really learn what's going to work for the band.
Ultimately live as opposed to just from a production [B] standpoint, what you want to do.
[F] The main thing with this record is we're going to capture exactly what we are live.
[Fm]
[F] [Eb] [F]
[Eb] [F] [F] [Eb]
[Ab] [Eb] [F]
[Ab] [Bb] [F]
It's obvious that Iron Maiden [Ab] really appreciates your music because they took you out on tour.
Tell me what that was like, because they are one of the biggest bands around.
And to be on tour with them.
It was fantastic.
[C] We ended up doing some shows with [N] them at the end of August in the States.
It was their last bit of dates there.
We were lucky enough to get them.
They really fell in love with the band.
They got a kick out of it.
We had a good laugh together.
The opportunity came up for these UK dates.
They called us a week later and Harry asked us to come over.
By the way, Harry is the nickname for Steve Harris.
You can't say that.
It's Harry.
Harry wants it.
Harry gets it.
[Eb]
[Ab] [Eb]
[Bb] [Cm] [Dbm]
[Ab] [Eb]
[Ab] [Eb] [N] What's wrong with Canada?
What's wrong with this country?
Nothing.
We live here.
We love Canada.
This is our home.
We always love to come home here.
Unfortunately, we haven't had the opportunity to play as much here as we wanted.
[C] We played three shows in the [B] last two years here.
[N] Those were strictly shows to open up the tour, to warm ourselves up.
I know we're waiting, all you promoters out there.
Here's the dwarfs.
We're waiting.
Our fans, they come up to us in the street all the time.
There's people that have seen the band through videos and they've never seen us live.
They want the opportunity to check it out.
Here you are on tour with Iron Maiden, the biggest [B] halls all over Europe.
We can't see you live.
Is there no [N] market to support it over here?
I don't know.
I just think it's the point of taking a chance on the band or giving it the right opportunity.
Maybe it's just the way it is for us.
We've always had this underdog thing in our own hometown.
I don't know why.
We get airplay in L.A. and in Texas and in New York and everywhere else.
But when it comes to hometown, they don't even play us on the radio here.
We don't understand why.
Obviously we think we're as happening as the next guy is.
It's hard to explain.
It frustrates us sometimes when we're here because we're thinking about it more and more people are coming up to us.
Somehow it doesn't bug you when there's 12,000 kids at Wembley Arena screaming.
Your mind's a little preoccupied.

That's about it for this week's show.
Next week, Blue [E] Rodeo, La La Love It, Metallica and a trip to Toronto's nightlife as we take a look at Speakeasy.
[N] And by the way, it's a girl.
See you next week.
